Woman mayor caught ‘romping with teen boy’ at boozy pool get together by her personal youngsters

A female mayor was caught having sex with her son’s 16-year-old friend during a boozy pool party by her own children, a court has heard. Bikini-clad Misty Roberts, 43, was seen “on top of the topless boy” during a bash at her house, it was alleged.
Robert’s ex-husband Don Clanton told the court that she told him directly that she had sex with the boy in question and that their kids had caught them in the act. He said he spoke with their son, who confirmed what he had seen.
Roberts, the former mayor of DeRidder, a small town in Louisiana, denies charges of third-degree rape and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles over the 2024 gathering at her home.
Prosecutors played the full 2025 forensic interview with her son for the jury, during which the teen said he saw his mother having sex with his friend through a crack in a window.
When he took the stand in person, he told jurors he was uncertain about what he saw, local media in court report. Text messages from that night showed the son telling his mother that what was happening was “crazy” and that his younger sister was crying.
Roberts’ daughter also testified and prosecutors played her interview with cops, in which he said she saw her mother and the teenage boy “on top of each other” that night. None of the young witnesses testified to seeing “private parts”. One said the boy was shirtless.
A delivery driver told said the jury he dropped off an emergency contraceptive to Roberts’ house and prosecutors said the victim’s mother texted Roberts to ensure that she was not pregnant, to which she replied that she was on birth control.
They said Roberts shared a screenshot of the text in a group chat with her friends, suggesting she would also take a morning after pill. Jurors also saw pictures from the party, which showed kids holding drinks by the pool.
Prosecutor Charles Robinson said one “lewd” photo showed Roberts at the party in her bikini and the teen looking up at her smiling. The majority of their bodies were not visible in the photograph.
Mr Robinson told the jury Robert’s ex-husband texted her on the day of a council meeting saying: “I would deny what happened if you’re approached by anyone at the meeting.”
Defence attorney Adam Johnson claimed the boy didn’t initially acknowledge that the incident had happened, but after his girlfriend left him and the rumour had run rampant, he started “embracing” it.
He told the court police only picked up on the case because of rumours on social media, adding: “Rumour became the story, and story became the press release.”
Roberts was re-elected in 2020 as mayor of DeRidder, a town of just under 10,000 people about 20 miles east of the Texas border, after winning sixty percent of the vote.
She resigned in 2024, just days before her arrest. Bond conditions initially limited her contact with her children without her ex-husband’s permission and revoked child support. The trial continues.
