NASCAR icon Bubba Wallace also posted a tribute on X. “Just a lot of damn sadness man,” reports the Mirror.
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was the grandson of famed driver ‘Tiger’ Tom Pistone, who secured two victories in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Chase clinched over 80 feature events in Legends, Late Model and USAR racing throughout his career. His victories included four separate Summer Shootout Champions Legends wins between 1999 and 2005.

Pistone embarked on his NASCAR career in the Craftsman Truck Series back in 2005, competing for Green Light Racing. Over the course of his tenure, he made a total of 10 starts across NASCAR’s three national series, predominantly participating in the O’Reilly and Truck series, before ultimately concluding his time in NASCAR in 2014.
In a heartfelt gesture, Pistone’s sister-in-law, Phaedra, reached out to Hickory Motor Speedway – a historic racing venue in North Carolina – to inquire if they would consider paying tribute to Chase’s memory during the first race of the upcoming weekend.
In a letter shared on the speedway’s Facebook page on Monday, she penned: “Chase had a deep connection to Hickory Motor Speedway, and the racing community meant so much to him,”.
“The track was not just a place to him – it was part of his life, his passion, and a place filled with meaningful memories for our entire family.”
In response, Hickory Motor Speedway issued a statement expressing their commitment to ‘do their best to respect the family’s wishes and honour his memory prior to the race this Saturday night’.
Kevin Piercy, Hickory Motor Speedway’s general manager, added a personal touch, saying: “Chase was always in a great mood and a joy to be around. I appreciate the support and love that we both share for Hickory Motor Speedway. He will be missed.”
