Iran ‘ceaselessly conflict’ might kill ‘lots of of 1000’s’, defence knowledgeable warns

Top defence expert Professor Anthony Glees warns Iran’s Revolutionary Guards could kill hundreds of thousands to maintain regime as Trump-Israel military operation continues

A leading defence expert has cautioned that Iran’s leadership could “hang on for a very long time” and transform the present conflict into a brutal “forever war”.

Professor Anthony Glees, a politics professor at Buckingham who formerly acted as a special adviser to the Foreign Office, informed the Mirror that the ongoing conflict will only conclude if “Trump calls it quits” and abandons the joint operation with Israel.

Whilst the Ayatollah perished within mere hours of the bombardment commencing, there is no opposition figure who could readily step forward and seize power, the professor explained – whilst the “extremist” Iranian Revolutionary Guards could potentially slaughter “hundreds of thousands” to prevent revolution.

This follows US President Donald Trump’s statement that the joint US-Israel military operation in Iran could continue for four to five weeks or “far longer,” reports the Mirror.

Cautioning that comparisons to US intervention in Venezuela failed to comprehend the magnitude of potential carnage ahead, Professor Glees stated today: “If ‘regime change from the air’ were going to work, a revolution would have broken out in Iran on Saturday evening, after Khamenei and his top staff were blown into the next world [paradise in his case].

“I suspect Netanyahu told Trump in person a fortnight ago that the two could repeat the Venezuela gig, get rid of the ‘head’ of the snake and find an alternative head who would do what they wanted.”

Of course, if so, this shows a total misunderstanding of the deeply ideological nature of the Iranian regime, fanatical Islamists to their core.

“There are no pro-US or pro-Israel ayatollahs. And Iran, pop. 94m, is not Venezuela. Whilst many loathe the ayatollahs and what they’ve done and are doing, there are also millions who have been brainwashed by the mullahs. They were content to see thousands killed a few weeks ago; they will be content to see hundreds of thousands killed by the Revolutionary Guards in order to sustain the regime of the ayatollahs.”

He continued that we “should not forget the lessons of history”, with Iraq in 2003 and Libya in 2011 demonstrating that “regime change from the air has never been successfully carried out”.

The Royal Navy has deployed a Type 45 destroyer – HMS Dragon – following the strikes on RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus at the weekend by suspected Iranian drones. But the consequences of this conflict will likely be experienced domestically at the petrol pump and in monthly energy bills, the professor cautioned, probably proving more damaging for Britain and Europe than for Trump’s America.

He stated: “As some of us predicted Iran has lashed out and will continue to lash out in the Middle East and in the Gulf States. That not only ensures widespread chaos, it also ensures a massive economic hit on global trade and energy prices. The USA is self-sufficient in all types of oil because it not only has its own massive supplies, it also has higher grade Venezuelan oil on tap as well. But all this screws the rest of us, I’m afraid.”
