Trump has one other dig Starmer as he says ‘we do not want you’

In a statement on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump criticised UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, claiming Starmer wants to “join wars after we’ve already won” and insisting the US no longer needs British aircrafts

US President Donald Trump claims UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer wants to “join wars after we’ve already won” and argues that the US has no need for aircraft carriers.

Trump has just made a statement on his Truth Social platform, taking aim at Starmer. He wrote: “the United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, maybe the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East”.

Trump continues: “That’s OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need them any longer – But we will remember,” and adds, “We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!”

The UK government has not joined offensive operations or given any commitment to do so, according to the BBC. One aircraft carrier had reportedly been put on an advanced state of readiness in case it needed to be deployed to the region.

The UK has allowed the US to use its bases for defensive operations, the BBC reported. Trump’s dig comes as the diplomatic rift between the US and UK deepens.

It ultimately escalated this month, following the joint US-Israeli military offensive against Iran. The core of the conflict lies in Starmer’s initial refusal to allow the US to use key British bases, Diego Garcia in the Chagos Islands and RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, for the first wave of offensive strikes.

Starmer also cited concerns over international law and made clear that the UK “does not believe in regime change from the skies”. While the UK later permitted US use of these bases for strictly “defensive” operations to protect British interests and citizens, the initial hesitation has drawn sharp criticism from Trump.
