- A massive fire has ripped through Glasgow city centre, forcing the closure of Glasgow Central Station and bringing chaos to the Scottish city.
- Emergency crews raced to Union Street at around 3.40pm on Sunday after reports of the blaze. At its peak, 15 fire engines and specialist vehicles including high-reach equipment battled the inferno.
- Dense white smoke was seen billowing from a four-storey commercial building as flames tore through multiple floors. Residents have been told to keep windows shut as firefighters continue their battle.
- Glasgow Central Station has been forced to shut, with ScotRail warning passengers to make alternative travel arrangements. “Customers should make their own travel arrangements, as we cannot guarantee that you will be able to complete your journey,” a spokesperson said.
- Police Scotland confirmed Union Street and St Vincent Street have been closed with diversions in place. Officers are urging people to avoid the area if possible.
- Thankfully, there are no reported casualties from the dramatic blaze that has gripped the city centre.
