Man Utd information: JJ Gabriel impresses once more as Luis Enrique ‘dream’ verdict made
Manchester United wonderkid JJ Gabriel again made another huge impression ahead of a summer that could prove crucial in the future of their manager and many players
Manchester United have a weekend break courtesy of their premature FA Cup exit. The Red Devils suffered defeat to Brighton in the third round whilst top four competitors Liverpool and Chelsea have both faced an additional fixture on their schedule.
Michael Carrick’s team also lack midweek commitments, having missed out on European qualification this campaign. This means by the time they meet Aston Villa on March 15 they’ll have had 11 days between matches. Should they win that game it could prove pivotal for their ambitions of securing next season’s Champions League football. United and Villa sit level on points in third and fourth positions respectively, with Chelsea trailing the duo by just three points.
Whatever unfolds between now and the end of the season could significantly influence United’s managerial strategy and transfer opportunities. Here, the Daily Star Sport look at the latest updates from around Old Trafford.

Manchester United prodigy JJ Gabriel stole the spotlight yet again on Saturday. The youngster contributed two more strikes to his seasonal haul as United’s Under-18s demolished Nottingham Forest.
Gabriel’s opener arrived eight minutes before the interval when his strike from distance seemed to catch a deflection on its way to the top corner. But his second had no such fortune as he weaved and spun before bending a shot high past the Forest keeper’s desperate dive.
Jay McEvoy, Louie Bradbury and Noah Ajayi were also on target in a 5-2 victory for Darren Fletcher’s side. Gabriel now boasts 16 goals in 18 league outings this campaign despite celebrating his 15th birthday only in October.
Luis Enrique backed
Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has heaped praise on Luis Enrique. The Paris Saint-Germain manager features amongst those rumoured to be in contention for the Old Trafford hot seat should Michael Carrick not be handed the role on a permanent basis, although he could yet prolong his stint in France.
“Luis Enrique would be a dream coach for Man United,” Evra told Stake whilst delivering his assessment of the ex-Barcelona chief. “I love the man, I love his philosophy, what he went through in his personal life and overcame it shows his personality.
“The job he’s done at PSG by bringing them a Champions League without Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe or Neymar, it’s a fantastic job. Players would have to work really hard to play for Man United, they’ll have to run a lot and I think Enrique would bring that.”
