Manhunt for acid attacker who threw substance at passenger as he bought off the prepare

A police manhunt has been launched for a suspected acid attacker who threw an unknown substance at a passenger as he got off the train.

Emergency services were called to Crawley station just after 11.20pm last night following reports a man in his 30s had been injured.

The victim was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment, with police saying they are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened.

Forensic officers remained at the scene until the early hours of this morning.

British Transport Police confirmed its officers were called followed reports of a substance being thrown at a man.

A spokesman added: ‘The man was taken to hospital to receive medical treatment.

‘Officers are keen to speak to any witnesses who might have seen this incident or may have information.’
