Police cordon off Oldham flat after man’s demise in a single day sees forensics swarm

A property has been sealed off by police following a serious incident during the night. Forensic specialists are also operating in and around the premises in Manchester.
A police cordon has been put in place at a flat situated at the junction of Salmon Fields and Higginshaw Lane in Royton, Oldham. An ambulance has also been spotted at the scene, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Police have confirmed that a 49-year-old man has been found dead at the property. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At 10.23am today (08/03/2026), we called to reports of a concern for welfare of a man at an address at Higginshaw Lane, Royton.
“Emergency services attended and sadly a man, aged 49, was declared deceased at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.”
