Dirty Britons are reusing their underwear time and again with out washing them
Smelly fellas are setting the worst example with just one in four men washing their underwear daily, a probe found
A fifth of Brits wash their underwear just once a week with millions using the same pair over and over again.
Smelly fellas are setting the worst example with just one in four men (26%) washing their underwear daily. While a fifth of Brits (20%) are using the same pair of smalls for days on end, admitting they wash their underwear just once a week or even less.
And in another shock find from the survey it emerged that blokes are twice as likely to lie about their underwear hygiene as women. In contrast nearly half of women (47%) wash their underwear every time.
The findings compiled by leading laundry firm Laundryheap suggest Britain could be in the grip of a hygiene crisis as energy prices soar and households scrimp on laundry costs to save cash.
Laundry expert Deyan Dimitrov, CEO and founder at Laundryheap, said: “Underwear should be washed after every single use to maintain proper hygiene, prevent bacteria build-up and avoid potential skin irritation. Even if worn for only a few hours, underwear collects sweat, oil and bodily fluids that need washing before being worn again.
“Bras should be washed after three wears or twice a week, and delicate fabrics should be hand washed.”
It follows a study last year which found millions of people slip into their pyjamas the minute they get home each day. A probe into clothing habits behind closed doors found the majority of workers ditch their suit or fancy work dress straight away and don their favourite “comfies”.
And a naughty majority of those will strip down to their underwear to carry out household chores, with a hardy smaller group willing to go completely naked once the working day is done. Overall, the study found six in 10 put their pyjamas on as soon as they get home.
