Eight males who filmed themselves gang-raping British 18-year-old in a Magaluf lodge are jailed for 73 years

Eight men who filmed themselves gang-raping an 18-year-old British girl in a Magaluf hotel have been jailed for a total of 73 years.

Seven Frenchmen and one Swiss man recorded their vile attack and shared pictures and videos of it on social media. Their sentence is down by more than half of the 151 years they initially faced.

Two of the men were staying in the BH Mallorca Resort hotel and lured the ‘semi-conscious’ woman to room 108 after plying her with alcohol on August 14, 2023, the prosecutor’s office previously said.

The two men then invited a group of strangers from the corridor to follow them into the hotel for ‘free sex’ around 7.30am, local media previously reported.

They then undressed the woman and raped her for half an hour ‘taking advantage of the secluded room to which they had led her’, according to prosecutors.

‘They performed various sexual acts on her, acting in concert and without the young woman’s consent’, prosecutors told the court, Ultima Hora said.

In videos of the various degrading sex acts they committed against their victim shared on Snapchat, vile comments were being made by the men watching the assaults and egging on the others.

‘She lets us touch her; we’re going to have some fun today,’ one said. Another said ‘There are four of us and a cow.’

The defendants boasted of their actions ‘with the clear intention of humiliating and violating the victim’s privacy’, prosecutors said.

The woman finally managed to flee the room after the attacks and alerted local police with the help of hotel staff, telling them she had woken up surrounded by young men holding mobile phones.

The Civil Guard opened the investigation after receiving reports of the appalling attack and arrested the men. Police found one of them still had 14 videos on his phone of the brutal attack which lasted a total duration of 170 seconds, nearly three minutes.

Another had a further five recorded on his phone and a third had two more. The videos showed the men had been ‘enjoying themselves and laughing’ during the brutal rape, police previously said.

It was previously reported that three of the group were duped into revealing themselves as suspects by police when they rang the girl’s phone which was stolen during the ordeal, she claimed.

The man who answered and his two friends were told to head to the hotel reception without realising they were going to meet the police and the girl.

The victim pointed at the men – named as Anthony G, 20, Anthony A, 20, and Khalil A, 18 – and they were quickly arrested.

Two other French men, Thomas E, 23, and Romain C, 26, were reportedly arrested later at the hotel along with the Swiss man named Lucas H, 20.

Two other men were hunted by Spanish police after they reportedly saw the rape and recorded it rather than doing anything to stop it, previous reports said.

All of the men were remanded into police custody in a prison in Mallorca following their arrests. They all pleaded guilty when brought to trial.

The prosecution initially wanted to lock up the group for a total of 151 years in prison. However, the Public Prosecutors’ Office reduced the sentence to 73 years collectively after striking a deal with the private prosecutor Irene Hernández, from Campaner Law, and the defence lawyers.

The four-star adults-only hotel BH Mallorca Resort has racked up a list of shocking incidents over the years.

A number of young British tourists have either been killed or injured falling from the hotel’s balconies, and in 2018 four Brits started a huge fire at the same complex.

Also in 2018, police were probing two separate alleged sex attacks on British holiday makers in Magaluf, one of which occurred at the same hotel.

A spokesman from the BH Mallorca Resort said in August 2023: ‘The BH Mallorca Resort deeply regrets what has happened and would like to manifest its firm and forceful repudiation of the alleged sexual attack that occurred in the early hours of Monday August 14 at the hotel.

‘The hotel also wants to demonstrate its solidarity with the alleged victim of this aggression.

‘We are co-operating fully with the Civil Guard and its investigators in everything they consider to be necessary.

‘This hotel ratifies through this statement its commitment to the condemnation of all types of sexual attacks that affect peoples’ dignity and physical integrity. Behaviour that undermines those rights has no place in this establishment.’
