Mo Salah Liverpool coaching footage leaves Tim Sherwood livid on stay TV
Liverpool are preparing for their Champions League last 16 clash against Galatasaray on Tuesday night, with Tim Sherwood left baffled by footage from the open training session
Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has criticised footage of Liverpool’s open training session prior to their Champions League last 16 clash against Galatasaray. The Reds head to Turkey on Tuesday evening hoping to secure an advantage to take back to Anfield for next week’s second leg.
Arne Slot’s side have benefited from a weekend break after advancing to the FA Cup quarter-final on Friday evening. They defeated Wolves, who had beaten them in the Premier League three days earlier, 3-1 courtesy of strikes from Andrew Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones.
On Monday, Slot conducted training before the media ahead of their Champions League encounter. As part of the session, Sky Sports News aired portions of training, with one particular moment seemingly leaving Sherwood stunned.
The camera captured Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai throwing a medicine ball over a goal to one another. Sky Sports’ presenter Tom White was equally baffled by the activity, before Sherwood interrupted.
“What was that? No, I have no idea what…incredible,” Sherwood said. “It baffles me. That’s nonsense. Throwing the ball over…I mean, mate, let’s talk, let’s move.”

Federico Chiesa was missing from Liverpool’s open training session. Trey Nyoni was also absent after featuring in the first half during the Under-21s’ 5-0 triumph over Wolves on Sunday. Florian Wirtz did appear having made his return in the FA Cup victory at Wolves.
The Germany international had been sidelined for the previous three matches with a back problem, but could earn his first start since February 14. Liverpool head to Turkey having already endured a 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray earlier this season.
“Difficult,” Slot told TNT Sports when asked how he viewed the tie with Galatasaray. “That is what you expect in the last 16, because every team you are going to face is difficult because they are there for a reason.
“What makes it even more [difficult] for us is to know that we have already played there and we have lost. It’s a very good team and they have very good players.
“But the whole atmosphere makes it different from any other away game I’ve ever played. Every time we had the ball, the noise, the whistling, is so hard that sometimes you wonder if this could be done by human people.
“It’s so hard, from the start to the end. The noise is even harder than when they score a goal. So, it’s a challenging environment to play, but the good thing is that we play at home as well, and that’s going to be a challenging environment for Galatasaray to play in.”
