‘Thinner and sooner’ Microsoft laptop computer has ‘caught up with Apple’ now £357 cheaper
‘It is a significant upgrade to most previous Microsoft models’
Shoppers looking for a powerful new laptop may want to check out a current deal cutting £357 off a popular Microsoft model that’s been praised for being ‘thinner and faster’. The Microsoft Surface Laptop is available for £891.64, down from £1,249, on Amazon, saving buyers 29% on their purchase in the limited-time deal.
The laptop is part of the new Copilot+ PC range, meaning it comes with built-in AI features designed to help with everyday tasks like searching files, organising work and generating ideas. With the discount applied, it offers a more affordable way to upgrade to a lightweight, high-performance machine suited to both work and entertainment.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop focuses on speed, simplicity and smart features, the brand says. It is said to be designed to run quickly and smoothly, making everyday tasks like browsing, working on documents, editing photos or streaming videos feel effortless.

Built-in AI tools help with things like quickly finding files or notes using natural language, while the dedicated Copilot button gives instant access to Microsoft’s AI assistant for help with ideas, writing and organisation. The bright display delivers sharp contrast with deeper blacks and clearer whites, making films, photos and work documents look crisp and detailed, the listing says.
A high-quality camera with smart lighting adjustments helps keep video calls clear and well-lit, while the lightweight aluminium body keeps the laptop easy to carry without feeling fragile. If this isn’t the one for everyone, however, there is the Acer Aspire 3 12th Gen Laptop for £429 on Argos.

This one is suitable for everyday use, has a battery life of up to 5.5 hours and has a 15.6-inch screen that features a Full HD resolution. Another option is the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15.6″ Laptop for £279 from Currys. Users can get two hours of charge from just 15 minutes of charging with Rapid Charge Boost, making this another solid option, and it also has a Full HD webcam and privacy shutter.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop has been rated an average 4.1 out of five stars on Amazon, and one person wrote: “Snapdragon X elite chip has caught up with Apple M3 finally – it is a significant upgrade to most previous Microsoft models and can handle most things you can throw at it. I think the only notable disadvantage is gaming (but I have a PS4 and iPad for that). For everything else work/media-wise, look at YouTube reviews – it has definitely caught up with or even exceeded MacBook Air equivalents as a fact.”
Another person wrote: “Smaller, thinner, faster, quieter, longer battery life.” A third added: “This machine is incredible. I used to use the Microsoft Surface Tablet Pro but this machine blows it out of the water. So light and easy to use. I love it!”
Some others disagreed, however, as one person said: “Brilliant device, keyboard and screen are very good. Battery life is ok, got around eight hours of use, but nowhere near what the manufacturer states. The only issue I had is that some software isn’t compatible and for some reason it didn’t sync with my Microsoft account.”
Another commented: “It works well with Microsoft Office and any apps that support ARM processors natively. Long-lasting battery and the promise of good AI support, but all that is work in progress. Love the colour.”
