Daily Star’s racing knowledgeable has already picked winners – this is his Wednesday Cheltenham suggestions

It’s already time for day two of Cheltenham festival, and after picking two winner son Tuesday our racing expert has had his say ahead of Wednesday’s action

It was a flying start for Daily Star Sport racing expert Jason Heavey on Tuesday as he tipped two winners on day one of Cheltenham.

Both Old Park Star and Lossiemouth charged to victory on day one of the festivities, while Sober Glory finished second in his each-way tip for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. And he is now high on No Drama This End and Love Sign D’Aunou.

However, he is also tipping against red-hot favourite Majborough, with Il Etait Temps offering a “sporting alternative” who “holds far more appeal”. And without any more adu, here are Daily Star Sport’s tips for day two…

1.20 TURNERS NOVICES’ HURDLE

NO DRAMA THIS END can cap a tremendous season with victory in a hugely competitive renewal.

Harry Cobden says he wants to bow out as Paul Nicholls’ stable jockey by riding a Festival winner at Cheltenham for him and he will not get a better chance this week.

No Drama This End was ninth in the 2025 Bumper and he has hardly broken sweat this season to win three from three over hurdles, including the Grade One Challow.

He looks bombproof and is a great price at around 5-1 due to the apparent strength of the Irish challenge. Jack Kennedy has chosen Ballyfad over Skylight Hustle – both have serious claims for Gordon Elliott – but neither have proven stamina over the trip.

Willie Mullins runs six and among them is classy Royal Ascot winner Sober.

With 22 runners there is plenty of each-way value and ACT OF INNOCENCE looks too big at 14-1. He ticks plenty of boxes and will not mind the drying ground, so he rates the place play. Don’t rule out Came From Nowhere at 50-1.

TIP: NO DRAMA THIS END

ROMEO COOLIO can woo racegoers and punters with his class and jumping prowess.

Gordon Elliott’s challenger is four from four over fences. Two cosy wins over 2m4f were followed by a brace of Grade Ones over two miles – a trip that is far too short for him.

Romeo Coolio did so well to win over the minimum trip and today is his first stab at 3m1f.

However he won a 3m point to point and has always been seen as a stayer. He is a class act and a strong fancy. Romeo Coolio also holds Koktail Divin on the formbook, while Henry de Bromhead’s other runner The Big Westerner would prefer it softer.

Willie Mullins again runs six. Final Demand’s price has drifted with negative vibes around him, so Kaid d’Authie – a Grade One winner at the Dublin Racing Festival – could be his biggest chance.

Salver looks overpriced at 28-1 but Wendigo (8-1) is my each-way play and I rate him the biggest danger. He was unlucky in the 2025 Albert Bartlett when stumbling two out and has had a nice prep.

TIP: ROMEO COOLIO

Each-way: Wendigo

2.40 BETMGM CUP HANDICAP HURDLE

IBERICO LORD stormed back to his best at Kempton last month and could be the answer to the day’s trickiest puzzle.

The talented eight-year-old ran in the Champion Hurdle two years ago behind State Man but badly lost his way afterwards.

Three more underwhelming efforts this season were washed away by a sudden return to winning form in the Lanzarote Hurdle when he showed all his old zest.

The handicapper has put Nicky Henderson’s beast back up 9lb but he remains fairly treated. Mark Walsh has opted to ride JP McManus’ Kopeck De Mee who bombed out at last year’s Festival after being gambled on.

He is a big player along with Henderson’s other runner Jingko Blue. Kateira is from the Dan Skelton yard which has a strong record in this race and she has been well punted while Storm Heart makes the market for Willie Mullins.

BECKETT ROCK ran well to be sixth in this race last year and is 3lb lower in the weights so is one for the podium.

TIP: IBERICO LORD

Each-way: Beckett Rock

3.20 GLENFARCLAS CROSS COUNTRY CHASE

FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU can come out on top in what looks like a shootout with Stumptown.

The pair dominate the market and both have shown an aptitude for handling the unique cross-country course.

Gordon Elliott has won this race five times and in Favori De Champdou he has an outstanding candidate who is enjoying a new lease of life at the age of 11.

He won over the course and distance in January when he gave away lumps of weight by eight-and-a-half lengths and Jack Kennedy is in the plate. Stumptown is a remarkable little horse who scampered clear to win this race last year after looking beaten at one stage. On his latest start for Gavin Cromwell he won the famous Pardubice in the Czech Republic.

Desertmore House and Final Orders should run well while Elliott also has The Goffer at the bottom of the weights along with the once classy Conflated.

Vanillier, second in the Grand National in 2023, is still going strong and is one for each-way backers.

TIP: FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU

4.00 BETMGM QUEEN MOTHER CHAMPION CHASE

IL ETAIT TEMPS is a sporting alternative to the red-hot favourite Majborough.

Willie Mullins’ grey looked to be the new star of the two-mile show after five straight victories – four of them in Grade Ones.

But he blotted his copybook with a flat performance behind Jonbon at Ascot in the Clarence House Chase in January, taking a tired fall at the final fence when beaten.

Although Majborough is most people’s idea of the banker of the week after his fluent success at the Dublin Racing Festival – when he was sharpened up by cheekpieces – he is odds-on, so makes no appeal to this punter.

Instead the 5-1 about Il Etait Temps holds far more appeal and I am hoping he bounces back to his brilliant best under Paul Townend.

Majborough can also clout the odd fence and blundered his Arkle chance away 12 months ago but he will be hard to beat if he gets rolling from the front and into a jumping rhythm.

QUILIXIOS was upsides Marine Nationale when he came down at the last in the 2025 renewal and if he is straight enough he looks good for an each-way punt at 10-1

TIP: IL ETAIT TEMPS

Each-way: Quilixios

4.40 DEBENHAMS JOHNNY HENDERSON GRAND ANNUAL CHALLENGE CUP CHASE

PERSONAL AMBITION can run his rivals ragged in this two-mile cavalry charge around Prestbury Park.

Ben Pauling won with Global Citizen in 2022 who made nearly all the running under Kieran Woods.

The same jockey could deploy similar tactics on Personal Ambition – a talented hurdler who shot back to form on his latest run at Newbury.

The horse has the engine – he beat Jango Baie in a Grade Two novice hurdle – although he can be mentally fragile and might need to get his own way in front.

Stablemate Vanderpoel is the choice of Ben Jones and a major player along with Be Aware, who has done little wrong this season.

Addragoole and Ballysax Hank give Gavin Cromwell a very strong hand while Release The Beast looks dangerous off bottom weight.

I napped JAZZY MATTY when he won this last year and he has 8lb more this time. He loves the Cheltenham hill and I can’t desert him, so he is a solid each-way play at 10-1.

TIP: PERSONAL AMBITION

Each-way: Jazzy Matty

5.20 WEATHERBYS CHAMPION BUMPER

It is easy to fall for the charms of LOVE SIGN D’AUNOU.

The winner of his only start at Naas after being bought out of the point-to-point field, he is one of five Willie Mullins runners in a race he has won 14 times.

His son Patrick – who has ridden the winner four times but has occasionally chosen the wrong one – has plumped for Love Sign D’Aunou and his owner Rich Ricci described him as his best chance of a winner all week.

Mullins’ other runners include Gaelic Warrior’s brother Our Trigger and Quiryn who is the mount of Paul Townend.

Gordon Elliott’s Keep Him Company is unbeaten and should be staying on strongly up the hill, while of the home challenge BASS HUNTER is very highly regarded by Chris Gordon and unbeaten in two runs.

However he is headstrong and he will need to settle to get up the hill. If he does he appeals at around 12-1 to pinch a place at least. Dan Skelton’s Mets Ta Ceinture is fascinating on her debut as she gets the weight allowances and cost £710,000.

TIP: LOVE SIGN D’AUNOU
