‘Suspicious man’ seen close to lacking mum of TV host’s home, eyewitness reveals
A neighbour of the missing mother of a popular American TV host has admitted to seeing a ‘suspicious man’ near the home of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, as the search for her moves into its second month
A neighbour of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has told reporters that she saw a suspicious figure who “didn’t fit” walking near the retiree’s home the day she went missing.
Guthrie, who is the mother of popular American TV host Savannah Guthrie, went missing on February 1, sparking a nationwide search for octogenarian.
And while her disappearance has been shrouded in mystery up until now, these latest comments may shed a bit more light on the circumstances that led up to her vanishing.
The neighbour, who claims to have been close with Nancy Guthrie and even taken walks with her, told NewsNation that she saw the ‘suspicious man’ on the same day she went missing.
“I’m getting ready in the morning, and I saw him out there, so I couldn’t make out his face. He was in kind of street clothes, not shoes that you’d walk in, and he had a baseball hat really low, and he was kind of hunched over, and he was kind of looking around, and he just didn’t fit,” she told NewsNation earlier this week.
The neighbour, who has not been named, described some the individual as displaying some seemingly suspicious behaviour.
“He wasn’t going terribly quickly like a normal person who’s getting exercise. He was kind of going slowly, and when he walked by this street, he really took a long look at it”, she revealed.
The neighbour also added that she spoke to the FBI about the sighting, according to reports.
Police have already released videos and photos of a suspect in the disappearance last month.
The footage, taken from which was retrieved from one of Guthrie’s Google Nest cameras, shows someone wearing a full face mask, gloves and a backpack walking up to the home.
It is unknown if the figure in the security footage is believed to be related to the individual described by the neighbour.
Today show host Savannah Guthrie has pleaded with anyone involved in her mother’s disappearance to come forward.
“Please — be the one that brings her home,” she posted on her personal Instagram, adding that “tips can be anonymous, reward can be paid in cash.”
