Tottenham’s ‘heads have gone’ after calamitous quarter-hour and horror goalkeeping
Tottenham Hotspur’s season took its latest embarrassing turn on Tuesday evening as Antonín Kinský was hooked after just 15 minutes following a horror show
Tottenham took just 15 minutes to implode during their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday evening.
Spurs have found themselves in a relegation battle during their domestic campaign – and were looking to Europe save some sort of face. However, they were at 6s and 7s in Madrid, conceding four in 22 minutes.
It was a horror opening for the north London side when Antonín Kinský, who was making his first start in the competition, slipped, allowing Marcus Llorente to send Atleti ahead. And there was still worse to come for the shot-stopper.
Antoine Griezmann doubled the lead before, one minute later, Kinský’s fluffed clearance landed at the feet of ex-Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez – who rolled the ball home.
Igor Tudor had seen enough, and after the two errors, Kinský was hooked for Guglielmo Vicario – not that he would fare much better as Robin Le Normand netted Atleti’s fourth.
Micky Van de Ven was lucky to remain on the pitch, after being sent off during his last outing, as TNT Sports’ Darren Fletcher pleaded with the Spurs players to “keep their heads”
