A woman and one-year-old girl have been found dead at a home south of Brisbane after an injured man fled the scene and was hit by a car.

Queensland Police were called to a Woolworths on Beaudesert Beenleigh Road at Bannockburn in Logan about 7.30am on Thursday following reports of a man ‘covered in blood’.

Police believe the injured man aged in his 30s had run to the supermarket from a home in Belivah and ran into the path of an oncoming car.

Officers later attended a Belivah Road address, where the bodies of a woman, 38, and one-year-old girl were discovered inside the home. Detectives remain at the scene.

The man was rushed Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition, where he remains unconscious and under police guard.

Detective Superintendent Chris Ahern said that the woman and child’s injuries were consistent with being caused by an edged weapon.

He confirmed the pair lived at the home with the man who is under police guard.

‘We’re treating it as a suspicious death,’ Det Sut Ahern said.

‘We are investigating the nature of why that gentleman came to be hit by a car.

‘We also have witness accounts of him running from the house shortly before he was struck by the car.

‘There are some witness accounts that suggest he was running towards where he was hit by the car and had already had some injuries to the neck area, but again, forensic examination and fuller treatment of the full circumstances are going to be able to answer those questions.’

Police are investigating the nature of the relationship between those who lived at the home.

‘Early indications are that there are no domestic violence related holdings from a police perspective, in relation to this family,’ Det Supt Ahern said.

It’s understood the man did not enter the supermarket.

‘We believe he’s just headed down that street and then got to where the car was and then was struck there,’ Det Supt Ahern said.

‘We’re anxious to speak with him so that we can get a fuller appraisal of the circumstances.’
