The US Navy will escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz ‘relatively soon’, Donald Trump‘s energy secretary has declared.
Chris Wright has told CNBC the first escorts are likely to take place this month as Iran steps up attacks on ships across the Gulf.

The cost of Brent crude rose by 9 per cent in Asia this morning to $100 (£74.79) a barrel hours after 32 countries agreed to release 400 million barrels in the biggest move of its kind.
Meanwhile, plumes of smoke have been seen rising above Bahrain’s International Airport after a major fire hit the kingdom’s Muharraq Island.
And Dubai has come under attack again after a drone struck a residential building near Dubai Creek Harbour, the day after a strike within the vicinity of Dubai airport.
