Kim Jong Un dubbed ‘tubby James Bond’ as he exams out new weapons at weapons manufacturing unit
A leather-clad Kim Jong Un and his daughter Ju Ae have tested new pistols as the tyrant orders a weapons ramp-up in North Korea
North Korean tyrant Kim Jong Un has been compared to a “tubby James Bond” after being spotted brandishing high-tech weaponry alongside his mini-me daughter.
The supreme leader swapped his usual desk-bound duties for some high-stakes target practice during a high-profile tour of a munitions plant. The dictator was filmed peering down the sights of a “new-type” pistol, sparking a wave of mockery.
While the North Korean state media attempted to paint a picture of a tactical mastermind overseeing the “modernisation” of his military, some observers were more focused on his choice of attire and somewhat portly physique.
Dressed in matching black leather jackets, Kim and his teenage daughter, Kim Ju Ae, were seen testing precision pistols.
Despite the Bond comparisons, the message from Pyongyang remains deadly serious.
State outlets said Kim hailed the new firearm as “really excellent,” urging workers to ramp up production. The dictator reportedly ordered a brand-new production line to be built.
He said the factory played “a very important role in increasing combat efficiency.” The appearance of 13-year-old Ju Ae has fuelled further rumours that she is the chosen one to take over the family business.
South Korean intelligence (NIS) believes the youngster is already “internally appointed” as her father’s successor.
She’s been a busy girl lately, having been spotted testing sniper rifles and watching what the regime claimed are “nuclear-capable missiles” being launched from the deck of a destroyer.
The muscle-flexing comes as Kim’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, issued a terrifying warning to the US and South Korea, claiming their joint military drills show an “inveterate repugnancy” toward the North.
The acerbic official criticised both nations on Tuesday following the start of their “Freedom Shield” manoeuvres just one day earlier.
The eleven-day period of intensive training involves thousands of troops and comes as Washington is already tied up with an escalating conflict in the Middle East.
While avoiding a specific mention of the war in Iran, she argued that the exercises undermine regional peace, particularly as worldwide security is “collapsing rapidly and wars break out in different parts of the world due to the reckless acts of outrageous international rogues.”
Kim himself has threatened to “completely destroy” his rivals if they step out of line.
