Brits have spoken of the ‘buzzing’ atmosphere which has descended upon Benidorm as the thousands of Brits have jetted off to Spain to enjoy the races from abroad

Brits have dubbed Benidorm the “New York of the Mediterranean” as thousands of booze and horse race loving holidaymakers have jetted in to enjoy the Cheltenham festival from afar.

One lucky winner of a Freebets all inclusive holiday – to experience both Cheltenham in Benidorm – has urged Brits to grab their passports to witness the “buzzing” atmosphere themselves.

Mikey Fenton, from Tonbridge, Kent, has spoken of his “Costa Del Cheltenham” experience and stressed that he was able to have a fantastic time on a budget. Mikey joined his father and his friends for one of the greatest annual horse racing events of the year.

Speaking of the low cost of travel to the Spanish holiday resort Mikey said: “Travelling to Spain, I’ve managed to secure a return ticket for £60, and we have rented an apartment where we split the cost.”

“It’s fantastic. We plan to go around to different pubs to watch different races.” Joking about enjoying the festival from afar Mikey dubbed the experience as “Costa Del Cheltenham” calling Benidorm the “New York of the Mediterranean”.

Mike Blackwell, 52, from Manchester – who won Freebets ’ all expenses paid trip – has spoken of the atmosphere he experienced while watching the races from afar. Mike told the Star: “There’s a lot of people out here for the racing and the atmosphere is buzzing.”

Despite the grey forecast Mike spoke of how Brits aren’t letting the weather dampen the mood of the festival. Thecompetition winner said “everyone is having a blast,” as he urged more UK folk to grab their passports to experience the Cheltenham Festival in Spain.
