Joe Jonas lookalike says ladies ship wild DMs and ask him to father their infants
Roberto Sfredda is constantly being asked if he is the Jonas Brothers star and says women have sent him a flood of DMs and even drawn up plans for future children
A man claims he’s frequently mistaken for pop sensation Joe Jonas, with women inundating his inbox with messages that range from invitations for romantic getaways to elaborate plans for future children.
Roberto Sfredda, a 28-year-old content creator from Italy, says strangers often approach him in public to ask if he’s the singer and Camp Rock star.
The comparisons have reportedly followed him across Europe, South America, and the US, but one of the most dramatic reactions occurred during a trip to California.
Roberto said: “Sometimes people just stare at me trying to figure it out, and then they come up and ask, ‘Are you Joe Jonas?’ Other times they just assume I am and ask for a photo.
“One of the funniest moments was when I was simply walking down the street in California. A girl next to me suddenly screamed while looking at me and I got scared.
“It was just the usual, she thought I was Joe Jonas. Honestly, I don’t mind being mistaken for him. Apparently a lot of girls like it and I definitely don’t mind.”
Other admirers have also been particularly forward. The travel content creator said: “I get fangirl messages often. A lot of girls ask if I’m single, casually trying to be friendly at first and then slowly working their way closer.
“It usually starts innocent, then turns into, ‘So when are you coming to my city?’ pretty quickly. I’ve had quite a few people shoot their shot. Some very confidently. Some very creatively.
“Someone once wrote, ‘I already told my friends you’re going to be the father of my future kids. Just let me know when you’re free so we can start planning’.”
Another fan reportedly sent him a comprehensive itinerary for a “romantic escape” weekend – packed with hotel choices, dinner plans and even suggestions for future family holidays. He also says he’s frequently asked if he has an OnlyFans account.
Roberto said: “The level of detail and confidence was insane. I also constantly get asked if I have OnlyFans but that’s definitely not in my plans. Compliments are of every kind.
“Some people even say I’m better looking, others get very imaginative and dramatic with what they write. Let’s just say creativity is not lacking in my DMs. The messages about my resemblance are nonstop, funny, overwhelming, but also kind of flattering.”
The doppelganger confusion has been ongoing for years but recently escalated after Roberto posted a side-by-side comparison video online. He says he made it “just for fun” but it garnered more than 1.7m views.
Roberto said: “When I posted the comparison video, I didn’t expect it to explode the way it did. The response has been crazy.
“There were thousands of comments, people tagging friends, debates about whether we’re actually twins or not. A lot of people are convinced it’s more than just a small resemblance. My inbox definitely felt it. The first few days were wild.”
Whilst Roberto admits he has occasionally joked about being the real Joe, his pronounced Italian accent tends to give him away quickly.
He said: “I’ve definitely joked about it before. A few times I pretended to be him but I was quickly caught by my accent, so it didn’t last long”.
“Usually, when people ask if I’m him, I just play along with a big smile. It’s harmless fun and usually gets a laugh, sometimes confused looks, too, of course.”
However, there is one expectation he tries to sidestep. Roberto added: “As soon as someone makes the Joe Jonas comparison, the next logical step in their mind is to ask me to sing something.
“There’s this assumption that if you look remotely like a pop star, you must come with the full package. I usually tell them it’s much safer if I just stick to playing an instrument.
“That way people can keep the illusion alive. The resemblance might be there but it’s probably best for everyone if I don’t test the vocal theory.”
