Furious Dominik Szoboszlai urges Liverpool team-mates to ‘get up’ after conceding within the Ninetieth minute for an EIGHTH time – as Reds star claims Arne Slot’s males are solely ok for a spot within the Conference League

Dominik Szoboszlai has told his Liverpool team-mates to ‘wake up’ after once again dropping points late on in the Premier League this season – this time at the hands of Tottenham.

The Liverpool midfielder looked to have given his side all three points on Sunday with a first-half free-kick on 18 minutes.

However, the Reds were pegged back in the 90th minute when former Everton striker Richarlison equalised for Tottenham to earn them a 1-1 draw.

Conceding late goals has been a familiar theme for Liverpool this season with Richarlison’s goal the eighth they have conceded in the 90th minute or later in the Premier League this season. In fact, it’s the most the Merseysiders have conceded in a season – surpassing their previous worst of seven during the 2010-11 campaign.

And reflecting on the frustration of that late equaliser, Szoboszlai didn’t hold back on his views.

Asked if the result is a huge disappointment, the 25-year-old replied on Sky Sports: ‘Yeah it is. I don’t know to be honest. Nothing to say.

‘Again in the last minute I don’t know how many times that has happened in the season already. I don’t know what to say. We have to wake up.’

Expanding further, Szoboszlai warned that Liverpool’s hopes of Champions League qualification will soon be over and they’ll be fighting for a Europa Conference League if they don’t stop conceding late on.

‘In the end we have to wake up because its eight-nine games to go and if it continues like this next season we should be happy to play Conference League,’ he said.

The draw has seen Liverpool climb up to fifth in the Premier League, above Chelsea, but they missed an opportunity to go to fourth after Manchester United beat Aston Villa earlier on Sunday.

As it is, United sit third on 54 points after 30 matches, three ahead of Villa, five above Liverpool and six clear of Chelsea.

However, Liverpool must be aware of seventh-placed Brentford too who are on 44 points but have a game in hand.
