Nessie hunters have mentioned there might be a household of the creatures in Loch Ness

There are loads of Loch Ness Monsters lurking in the water, an expert claims. Gary Campbell, who runs the official sightings register, insists the creature is real despite opposition from sceptics.

His website includes all Nessie incidents since St Columba reportedly encountered the beast in 565AD. A total of 1,165 sightings have been reported. And Gary reckons a family of creatures inhabits the world famous loch in Scotland.

He said: “I think there are some sightings that can’t be explained. There’s a very good series of 10 photographs from 1997 by a man from Muir of Ord called Richard White.

“He took photos of something coming out of the water in the middle of the loch and going back in again and nobody’s ever been able to explain them.”

Gary, who launched the register 30 years with his wife Kathy, added: “I had no real interest until I saw something, and now my quest in life is to work out what I saw. I think there’s something there.

“I think there’s probably a family of them and it’s some form of animal or fish or something.

“Whatever it is, there must be more than one, and I think they live deep down in Loch Ness and are occasionally forced to the surface for some reason and go straight back down again, and that’s why there’re so few sightings.”

It comes after another expert Adrian Shine recently claimed there wasn’t a single sighting without a scientific explanation.

Gary said he became a believer on March 14, 1996 when in his car on the A82 between Dochgarroch and Drumnadrochit.

He said: “A black thing came out of the water and went back in. I thought I was seeing things, and then it came out again.

“There was no head, no eyes, no teeth. I grew up on the West Coast of Scotland, and I’ve seen many things in different lochs, but it was nothing like I’d ever seen before.”
