Liverpool subsequent supervisor odds and Arne Slot sack replace as agent reacts to ‘settlement’
The odds on Arne Slot to be sacked by Liverpool have been dramatically slashed after Liverpool threw away more points against Tottenham on Sunday and the Daily Star Sport looks at his potential replacements
Pressure is once again mounting on Arne Slot’s shoulders after Liverpool threw away more points to fall to a late draw against a broken Tottenham side.
The Reds led 1-0 until the 89th minute when Richarlison struck to earn relegation-threatened and injury-ravaged Spurs a point at Anfield. Slot started in dream fashion by winning the league title in his debut season, but after spending almost half a billion Liverpool’s drop off has been unimaginable.
Odds have now been slashed for Slot to receive the sack from 5/1 to 7/2 following the Tottenham embarrassment and 82 per cent of bets placed on the next manager to leave their post in the last 12 hours have been for Slot, according to Oddschecker. Here, the Daily Star Sport looks at the next Liverpool manager odds and gives our verdict on the suitability of their appointment.
Xabi Alonso – 4/11

The odds-on favourite for the job and it doesn’t take an expert to explain why. The 44-year-old is without a club after being sacked by Real Madrid in January, just seven months after taking the job.
Alonso guided Bayer Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title undefeated while also winning the DFB Pokal and reaching the Europa League final that same season. He joined his former club Madrid after strong links to Liverpool, but that move now looks back on the cards after he failed to stamp his authority at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The former midfielder played five years at Anfield and knows the place inside out. His appointment would be swift, easy and very popular with the fans.
However, Alonso’s agent has rubbished talks of an agreement in place for the Spaniard to take over in the summer after reports claimed he is set to replace Slot, only if Liverpool don’t win the Champions League.
Luis Enrique – 11/2
The PSG boss is probably the best manager in the world. His stock couldn’t be higher, but his interest in swapping the war chest of Paris for a Liverpool team who have dropped off immensely this season is unlikely.
There has been plenty of noise about the 55-year-old leaving the Parc des Princes, but whether that’s purely agent talk for an improved contract or more power at the club will reveal itself in the coming weeks.
Andoni Iraola – 7/1
The intriguing choice from the Premier League. Iraola has rebuilt Bournemouth after losing three of their first-choice defence and goalkeeper, while also seeing Antoine Semenyo depart after turning him into one of the best wingers in the league.
Iraola has plenty of admirers and it’s increasingly unlikely he can take the Cherries any further, making a summer exit look more likely. Whether he’s Anfield hot seat quality at 43, and with Rayo Vallecano the only other team of note on his CV, remains to be seen. But he will be in a top job soon attempting to prove himself.
Julian Nagelsmann – 7/1
The 38-year-old is set to guide Germany into his second major tournament in charge in the summer after he was sacked from his dream job at Bayern Munich in March 2023.
Nagelsmann is under contract with Germany until June 2028. Though it doesn’t mean he can be ruled out given the volatile nature of international management in a World Cup year. But for him to be considered Liverpool will have to be incredibly confident in his willingness to join given the World Cup runs until the middle of July, when most clubs are back for pre-season training.
Simone Inzaghi – 14/1
Once touted as one of the best managers in the world after guiding Inter Milan to the Champions League final in 2023, Inzaghi quit San Siro at the end of last season to jump at a money-spinning contract in Saudi Arabia with Al-Hilal.
Inzaghi looks sure to return to Europe in the coming years at just 49, but no one will be able to match his reported £20million-per-year contract that expires in June 2027. With Al-Hilal chasing the Saudi Pro League title, Inzaghi looks set to be in the Middle East for at least one more year.
Francesco Farioli – 16/1
The unknown name on the list, Farioli is emerging as a household name around Europe after taking the Porto job in the summer and leading the team to the top of the table with just one defeat.
However, at just 36, the Liverpool job would be way above his station after just 10 months ago he oversaw Ajax’s dramatic collapse in the Eredivisie title race, losing a nine-point lead with five matches to go. Unsurprisingly he left just days later but is rebuilding his image at Porto, where he should remain for at least one more season to gain more experience.
