Fox News halts as Donald Trump makes bombshell King Charles announcement

Donald Trump has suggested King Charles will fly to the US ‘very soon’ amid calls from UK officials for the visit to be cancelled due to Iran war tensions

Fox News interrupted their live coverage to cross directly to the White House where Donald Trump addressed reporters on a range of issues – including the subject of British royalty. King Charles’s impending visit arrives at a fraught time between the US and UK as the Iran conflict has tested the nations’ special relationship.

Some UK officials and citizens have urged the King to cancel the visit due to the war. Whilst it’s not been officially confirmed by Buckingham Palace, Trump provided an update as he made a shocking revelation on Monday. The president hinted that the King will be travelling to the US “very soon”.

The commander in chief commented on the planned visit whilst speaking in the White House’s East Wing, which has been torn down to construct a presidential ballroom. It is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2028 where Trump intends to entertain world leaders in a more appropriate venue, reports the Express.

He has repeatedly insinuated that the White House is only suitable for hosting events outdoors. Trump stated: “And you know the land in Washington was built on a swampy wetland.

“And when it rains, and you have the King of Saudi Arabia … the King of the UK, I would say King of England, a great guy, he’s coming in very soon.

“And when it rains, you know what happened? And the rain would go over their feet.”

King Charles had been anticipated to visit the US in the last week of April, according to reports.

The visit is anticipated to last three days and will be akin to the trip Trump made to the UK last year, according to a source who spoke to The Times late last month.

It comes after a senior Labour MP suggested it would be “safer to delay” the King’s state visit to the US next month due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.

Dame Emily Thornberry, chair of the Foreign Affairs select committee, said there was a risk Charles and Camilla may be left feeling “embarrassed” because of the current crisis.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today radio programme on today (March 17), Dame Emily said: “If it was to go ahead, it would go ahead against a backdrop of a war, and that, I think, is quite difficult – and the last thing that we want to do is to have Their Majesties embarrassed.”
