Arsenal information: Mikel Arteta handed switch replace as Martin Odegaard’s successor recognized
Arsenal have been linked with PSG star Kvaratskhelia while Rio Ferdinand claims Max Dowman could replace captain Martin Odegaard in the starting line-up
As Arsenal’s trophy battles continue on the pitch, they’ve also become the focus of transfer rumours off it. The Gunners faced Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16 of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday evening.
However, there’ll be no break for Mikel Arteta’s squad, as they’ll now switch their focus to a massive Carabao Cup final showdown with Manchester City this Sunday. It offers an opportunity for Arteta to claim his first silverware since the FA Cup triumph back in 2020.
The Spaniard’s vision has since flourished, with Arsenal also tipped to secure the Premier League crown this season. Now, Daily Star Sport examines two of the most significant stories surrounding the north Londoners.

Arsenal are allegedly poised to lose out on one of their favoured transfer objectives this summer. The Gunners in recent weeks have been connected with a swoop for Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, reports the Mirror.
The 25-year-old secured a £59million switch from Napoli to the French capital in January 2025 and proceeded to claim both the Champions League and Ligue 1 that same campaign, eliminating Arsenal from the former competition in the process.
He has drawn considerable attention due to his dazzling dribbling ability, with the Gunners interested, given their left wing slot requires immediate reinforcement. Nevertheless, Fabrizio Romano has now suggested Kvaratskhelia is anticipated to stay at PSG this summer.
Martin Ødegaard’s successor identified
Rio Ferdinand believes Max Dowman could shortly replace Gunners skipper Martin Ødegaard in the starting eleven. Dowman, 16, introduced himself to the world with his match-changing performance as a substitute against Everton at the weekend.
The Hale End academy talent featured on the flank but is deployed more centrally in the youth team setup, indicating his future role could be as an attacking midfielder under Arteta. That position, naturally, is typically filled by Ødegaard.
Ex-Manchester United defender Ferdinand has now suggested that Odegaard could find himself increasingly sidelined even after his return to fitness, thanks to the rise of the teenage prodigy, even hinting he could be sold to make room.
He said: “You know Odegaard might not get a game now. Seriously, your captain might be gone. You’ve got Dowman who can play his position, Eberecchi Eze can play his position. Bukayo Saka can play his position and go in there and go central. It’s mad.”
