Bruno Guimaraes to Man Utd switch bombshell drops as ‘superior talks’ held over £69m transfer
Manchester United are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes in a £69m summer move according to reports, with the 28-year-old eyed by Old Trafford chiefs
Manchester United are in ‘advanced talks’ to secure Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, according to Reuters. It has been suggested that the move would be an €80million (£69m) summer transfer, though Real Madrid’s involvement threatens to complicate any potential deal.
Los Blancos’ pursuit stretches back to 2022, with the Brazilian midfielder appearing set to join before Newcastle signed Guimaraes from Lyon. Yet preliminary discussions between United and Guimaraes’ representatives have indicated both sides favour the transfer, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The Magpies’ Champions League exit at Barcelona’s expense has heightened the chances of Guimaraes leaving, with European qualification for next season presently improbable. Guimaraes would almost certainly arrive as cover for the departing Casemiro.

The 34-year-old’s exit at season’s end has already been confirmed and it has been reported he has been endorsing his fellow Brazilian as the ideal successor.
United possess numerous alternative midfield targets including Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and various others.
Two new faces in the midfield are likely required this summer as United are currently short-staffed in that area, even with Casemiro still at the club. With Champions League football seemingly set to make a comeback at Old Trafford for the 2026/27 season, the need for a well-stocked squad becomes all the more crucial.
Sky Sports discounted Premier League and EFL package

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
Sky shows at least 215 live Premier League games each season, an increase of up to 100, plus Formula 1, darts, golf and more.
Having been eliminated from both domestic cup competitions in the first round, United will only participate in 40 matches this season, allowing them to concentrate solely on the Premier League.
Since stepping in as interim manager, Michael Carrick has secured seven victories out of a possible nine. Their most recent triumph was against top-five contenders Aston Villa, with Casemiro scoring for the third time under Carrick’s leadership.
As a result, United have climbed to third place in the league, six points ahead of Chelsea, who sit just outside the Champions League qualification spots.
