New Baywatch leading star Brooks Nader has been secretly taking swim lessons – because she barely can hold her own in the ocean

Model Nader has been taking twice daily sessions with a trainer in LA so that she can seem proficient in the water. The first few scenes of her lifeguard efforts were also shot in shallow areas of the tide in Venice Beach on Tuesday.

The production team brought in real life former Malibu lifeguards to assist Nader and co-star Livvy Dunne on coping with the waves in that region. However insiders revealed that Nader, 29, has perfected the “slow motion running technique” made famous by stars like Pamela Anderson in the original 90s series.

A source close to the production admitted: “Brooks is quite the actress. She landed the biggest new gig on US TV without really being a confident swimmer.

“She convinced producers that she could nail it and then when picked has been undergoing intense training twice daily. She told a couple of the crew, now that all the PR announcements are done, that she was not that interested in water as a kid so never felt the need to swim properly or even athletically.

“However she knows that this is a huge break and she wants to make sure she does her best to get the job done.”

The insider laughed: “The one thing she has perfected though is that brilliant screen running technique. She looks amazing on camera and that will play out beautifully.”

Arrow superhero star Stephen Amell is going to be the leading male in the revamped show alongside Shay Mitchell, and Noah Beck, with original Baywatch star David Chokachi returning as Cody Madison.

The premise of the show centres on Hobie Buchannon, played by Amell, now as the Baywatch captain, only to have his life upended by the sudden appearance of his daughter Charlie, who wants to follow in his footsteps and become a lifeguard. Chokachi now runs “The Shoreline,” the unofficial Baywatch bar and grill, and still pulls on the red trunks for the occasional rescue.
