Two buddies stabbed one another at Miami Beach bachelor social gathering in battle over girls, police say

Two friends stabbed each other at a bachelor party in Miami Beach after one man became annoyed that women were only paying attention to the other, police have said.

Olajuwon Dickerson, 32, of Massachusetts, appeared in court via video link from hospital Tuesday after being arrested for his alleged role in the altercation, which occurred early Sunday morning.

Miami-Dade police responded to reports of a stabbing in the early hours and found Dickerson and his friend both with wounds in the arm and stomach respectively.

Both men had been staying at the same AirBnB for a bachelor party and had been out at nearby bars. Dickerson’s friend had become “agitated” that women had only been talking to him and gone to outside to call the group’s hired car to pick them up, according to a police affidavit.

After the car arrived, the friend, who is unnamed in the report, allegedly became annoyed further when the women also tried to get into the vehicle with them.

The two men began arguing and Dickerson approached the victim.

“The defendant approached and told him to get out of the vehicle,” the affidavit alleges, per witness statements. “All witnesses stated that immediately after the defendant approached [the victim] they saw blood … [The victim] was bleeding from the abdomen area.”

Dickerson walked away from the vehicle holding his arm and a folding knife that had blood on it, according to authorities. The victim later told police that Dickerson had told him to get out of the vehicle, but he had refused because “he had also paid for it.”

He “suddenly realized he had been stabbed with a knife and in fear of being stabbed again, he began to defend himself against [Dickerson],” the report stated.

The victim also reportedly told police that he knew Dickerson had been carrying a knife because bouncers had been confiscating it and handing it back to him when they had been going into clubs.

Dickerson denied to police that he had been carrying a knife, contrary to witness statements and police finding the weapon at the scene. He also denied “being in an altercation,” the affidavit said.

“The defendant stated [they had] left the bar, and he remembered nothing else,” according to the report.

Dickerson was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Following Tuesday’s hearing he was ordered to have no contact with the friend he allegedly stabbed.

He is being held without bond.
