Andoni Iraola has emerged as a leading target for Athletic Bilbao who want the 43-year-old as their new head coach.

Iraola, who is out of contract in the summer, has been leaning towards agreeing new terms with Bournemouth where he continues to impress and forge a side competing for European qualification places.

He has also been discussed by Crystal Palace and Tottenham as they consider appointing new managers this summer.

However, Athletic hold a special place in Iraola’s heart as he made over 400 appearances for them as a player.

Current Athletic head coach Ernesto Valverde will step down at the end of this season and Iraola is the favoured choice to replace him.
