Rapid revealed last year there was a lucky lady in his life, admitting he’s got a new best friend after losing one – referencing the tragic death of his sister.
He told Oche180: “I’ve lost one best friend and I’ve got another one now. It’s lovely to have. She’s there for the highs and lows – there’s been a lot more highs this last year, in darts anyway.
“I’ve got something to play for now. I’m never going to live at home with mum and dad. I can move out and start a life with her. Everything is good at the minute. I’ve waited a decade to have a girlfriend so I might as well make the most of it.”
While speaking to talkSPORT Evans also admitted he was close to walking away from the sport: “Yes I do. I wouldn’t play darts if I didn’t believe. The amount of times I have said to my management, dad and family I quit, I am not going to play anymore.
“Then the next day the love for the game comes back. We all say stuff in the heat of the moment. I’m quitting darts, I ain’t playing anymore. As a kid I used to say it every week.
“There’s always them fairytale stories when you dream growing up I still believe I can lift the trophy. I still believe I am going to win one and drop the trophy, that’s how weird I am. I just believe I am going to drop it and it is going to smash to smithereens.
“Someone is going to come along with the hoover or something. I don’t play not to win. But I reckon it could be a whole thing of when Michael Smith won his first and then he won the next one.
“Maybe winning a ProTour, that is what I believe. If I win a floor event, that will be the catalyst for me to do well on TV.”
