Man Utd information: £113m switch raid with ‘superior talks’ as Michael Carrick modifications plans

Manchester United are preparing to splash out this summer transfer window if they secure Champions League qualification and put a season without any silverware behind them

Manchester United have been connected with a stunning double transfer raid after their fortunes have changed under Michael Carrick.

Since he was appointed to replace Ruben Amorim until the end of the season, Carrick has managed seven Premier League wins, one draw and one defeat to lift his team up to third in the Premier League. With just eight matches remaining, United possess an excellent opportunity of securing Champions League qualification and putting a season without any silverware behind them.

Doubt still lingers regarding whether Carrick will be handed the position permanently when the season finishes. Nevertheless, clinching a Champions League berth will prove enormously advantageous for the club in terms of boosting their fragile finances, attracting superior talent in the transfer market and progressing further. £44m star targeted

United are said to be tracking Wolves’ Joao Gomes as they seek to revamp their midfield this summer, reports the Mirror.

The 25-year-old Brazilian was associated with United during the January period but Wolves weren’t receptive to bids given their relegation battle.

Nevertheless, with Rob Edwards’ side destined for Championship football, Gomes is anticipated to depart Molineux this summer.

This has sparked heightened interest from multiple Premier League sides, including United, according to The Manchester Evening News.

Gomes arrived at Wolves from Flamengo during the summer of 2023 for £15million. Yet following his Brazil call-up after stellar Wolves performances, plus penning fresh terms last April, his valuation has soared to £44million.

That price tag could drop this summer given Wolves’ looming relegation.

‘Advanced’ Bruno Guimaraes talks

Another Brazilian United are reportedly targeting this summer is Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Reuters report that the Old Trafford outfit are conducting advanced discussions to secure the 28-year-old Toon talisman in a £69million deal.

The Magpies crashed out of the Champions League this week and appear unlikely to reach the competition next term, clearing the path for Guimaraes’ departure.

His fellow countryman, Casemiro, has already confirmed his United exit this summer and has supposedly personally endorsed Guimaraes as his midfield replacement, highlighting his experience and leadership qualities.

It’s suggested preliminary contact indicates mutual interest, which could provide a straightforward route towards an agreement. However, Real Madrid also harbour interest, having long admired the Newcastle skipper.
