Donald Trump ‘advised Pam Bondi’ she’ll be fired as Attorney General as he fumes over Epstein information
As speculation over her future reached fever-pitch in Washington DC, the US President is said to have told Attorney General Pam Bondi her time leading the US Justice Department is ‘coming to an end’
Donald Trump has reportedly told Attorney General Pam Bondi she’s about to be fired as he fumes over the Epstein Files.
As speculation over her future reached fever-pitch in Washington DC, the US President is said to have told Ms Bondi her time leading the US Justice Department is ‘coming to an end’.
Ms Bondi has presided over the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein Files, which has been a huge frustration for Trump – who is named in them hundreds of times.
Trump is said to have lost confidence in her after a congressional committee investigating the probe into Epstein’s crimes issued her with a summons – backed by Republicans and Democrats – to give evidence under oath.
Being named in the files is not an indication of guilt or knowledge of the crimes of America’s most notorious paedophile.
But Trump’s name appears in FBI memos related to unsubstantiated accusations of child sexual abuse against the President.
The White House said the claims were “completely baseless” and “backed by zero credible evidence”.
Trump is said to be considering replacing Bondi with Lee Zeldin, who currently heads up the Environmental Protection Agency.
A former congressman and Trump loyalist, Zeldin was a prominent defender of the President during his first impeachment.
The New York Times reported last night that Trump had yet to make a final decision on whether to fire Bondi.
And she accompanied him to the Supreme Court on Wednesday to hear oral arguments about his bid to scrap birthright citizenship – which grants citizenship to almost anyone born in the US regardless of their parents’ immigration status.
“Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job,” Trump told the Times last night.
And today, US political news website Semafor reported multiple sources had said Trump had told Bondi her time as AG was almost at an end.
