Boyzone legend Shane Lynch sparks frenzy with ‘flat Earth’ claims and wild witchcraft warning
EXCLUSIVE: Boyzone star Shane Lynch sparks debate with flat Earth claims and warns fans about witchcraft, calling parts of the music industry ‘demonic’ in explosive remarks
Boyzone star Shane Lynch has set tongues wagging after revealing his thoughts on the supernatural, the darker side of the music industry, and even the possibility the Earth might be flat.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star in collaboration with online casino experts casino.org, Shane, 49, admitted he has always stood out in the boy band, proud of being different and unafraid to question the world around him.
“You know what, at the time, being in Boyzone didn’t feel hectic,” he said. “It was just your day-to-day. Cameras, press, people everywhere… you didn’t know any different. It’s only after you step off that ride you realise, ‘Jesus… that was a lot.’”
Despite his ‘bad boy”’ reputation in the band, Shane insists he never courted chaos. “We had passionate, excitable fans, but we weren’t causing trouble.
“We sang love songs, ballads… pretty radio-friendly stuff. No aggression, no riots. That wasn’t our vibe,” he explained.
The singer, who grew up on hip-hop, reggae, and N.W.A., said he brought a streetwise edge to the pop group. “I ended up being the urban edge in a pop band of ballads. Not a bad lad at all, mind, just sound and maybe a bit streetwise for Dublin,” he laughed.
Lynch has also spoken out about the rising visibility of witchcraft and the supernatural. “It used to be darker, more hidden.
“Now it’s out there on Channel 4, TikTok 24/7… tarot readers, clairvoyants, card readers. You open doors you can’t always close. You’ve got to be careful,” he warned.
He added that the music industry can feel “reasonably demonic”, pointing to pop royalty like Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift. “You can’t have pentagrams on stage, walking around in druid hoods with fire, and say it’s not demonic. It’s right there in front of you,” he said.
Lynch didn’t stop there, revealing his controversial views on the world. “Do we live on a flat Earth? The older I get, the more I think there’s a good chance we do. Pretty flat out there, honestly,” he laughed. “Questioning reality is natural when you’ve seen the darker side of the industry.”
Despite his unconventional beliefs, Shane says his Christian faith keeps him grounded. Not all fears are spiritual, though – he recently quit a BBC pilgrimage at the last minute due to personal reasons and a lifelong fear of candles. “There’s not a single candle allowed in my house, full stop,” he said.
From chart-topping ballads to black magic warnings, Shane Lynch’s unfiltered thoughts prove the Boyzone legend is as bold offstage as he was on it.
