A youngster has been left in a serious condition after plummeting from a window at a property in Middlesbrough.
Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident after being alerted to Palmer Street in the Gresham area just before 5pm on Thursday, April 2. Emergency medical crews attended and the child was rushed to James Cook University Hospital.
On Friday morning, a police cordon remained in place on the street, just before it meets Diamond Road. One local resident said she had heard a youngster fell from the window and witnessed police and an ambulance at the scene at teatime on Thursday.
One man living on the road said he didn’t know what had occurred, adding: “No-one really talks around here but there’s always something going on.” A police vehicle remains stationed on the street and detectives were seen knocking on doors.
Detective Inspector Rebecca Taylor, from Cleveland Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People team, said: “Shortly before 5pm on Thursday, April 2, police were called to Palmer Street in Middlesbrough following concerns for a child who was reported to have fallen from the window of a property.
Paramedics attended and provided treatment to the child who was taken to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.”, reports Teesside Live.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances. Anyone with information, CCTV or door bell footage can call 101 or visit the website quoting reference number 061391.”
A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service confirmed they received a call at 4.46pm regarding “a person injured” on the street.
“We dispatched an ambulance crew and a clinical team leader to the scene, and transported one patient to James Cook hospital for further treatment,” she stated.
It comes after a 14-year-old boy has been shot dead in a London street with three teenagers arrested on suspicion of murder.
A murder investigation has been launched by the Met Police after a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot in Woolwich. Officers were called to reports of a shooting at approximately 15:40hrs on Thursday, April 2, on Lord Warwick Street.
The Met Police said: “Despite the efforts of paramedics, the boy was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“Two boys, aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. They remain in custody.”
