Jesus pushed over by offended disciple throughout parade as horrified worshippers watch

Video footage shows the performer who was playing Jesus Christ being shoved to the ground by an angry ‘disciple’ during an Easter re-enactment in Mexico

An actor playing Jesus was knocked over by an irate disciple during an Easter procession.

The footage revealed the assailant, dressed in a black tunic and trailing behind Jesus in the parade, abruptly pushing him forcefully in the back. As Jesus toppled over, the man seemingly yanked the rope bound around his body, causing him to fall awkwardly. Jesus hit the ground with his hands tied, unable to shield his head.

As he crashed to the ground, spectators gasped in horror and several participants rushed to his aid. The distressing incident was captured on film during an Easter re-enactment in Xonacatlán near Mexico City, Mexico, on Maundy Thursday evening (2 Apr). Reports indicate that the actor received medical attention from paramedics at the scene.

It was later confirmed that the performer, identified as 26-year-old Juan Enrique, did not sustain any serious injuries. It remains unclear if there had been a prior disagreement with the other actor.

An event organiser said it was not meant to be part of the performance. Footage of the alleged attack went viral on X, amassing hundreds of thousands of views.

One social media user claimed it “looks intentional to me”.

“He should press charges against the guy, he went too far,” another added. Another person said: “How could he push him so hard when his hands were tied? How violent and stupid!”

While one said: “He really got into his role, I hope the person who played Jesus makes a full recovery.” Another said: “The actor playing the Roman soldier was thinking ‘I should have done that’.”

Whether Jesus really did resurrect from the dead on Easter Sunday is a question scientists have tried to get to the bottom or debunk for almost two thousand years. But, after looking at four key pieces of evidence used to challenge the notion the son of God resurrected from the dead on Easter Sunday, one expert has come to a bombshell conclusion. Pearl Bipin, an engineer with the National Institute of Technology in Goa, India, pinpointed four key pieces of evidence used in theories surrounding Jesus’ resurrection.

The numerous pieces of evidence were Jesus’ empty tomb, the reported appearances of Jesus after his death, the sudden transformation of his followers and the conversion of former sceptics surround the story of Jesus’ resurrection. The new study claims historical examination supports accounts of an empty tomb and also backed-up accounts the appearances of Jesus after his death.
