Royals pressured to make use of ‘vacation let’ after cussed Andrew refuses to depart bolthole

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh had to stay at a holiday let at Sandringham as Prince Andrew ‘refuses to leave’ Wood Farm while his new permanent residence undergoes renovations

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have reportedly been relegated to a “holiday let” for their Easter break in Sandringham because of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s stubbornness.

Prince Edward and Sophie had hoped to stay at Wood Farm, where the former Duke of York is currently staying, but were allegedly forced to settle for a nearby cottage as Andrew refuses to vacate the property. Andrew has been living at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk while his new permanent home, Marsh Farm, undergoes refurbishment.

He was instructed to leave his previous residence, the 30-room Royal Lodge in Windsor, last October, following the announcement that he would be stripped of his royal titles amid controversy over his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

It’s reported that the couple had to stay at Sandringham’s Gardens House, which can cost up to £4,110 per week during peak season. “Andrew was evicted from Royal Lodge at Windsor but now has two homes at his disposal,” an insider told The Sun.

“He is just going back and forth between Wood Farm and Marsh Farm. It’s got to be sorted as Edward and Sophie like to use Wood Farm.”

Gardens House, which sleeps eight, is situated a few hundred yards from the main Sandringham House. It was reported last Friday that Edward paid Andrew a visit to have a “quiet word” about encouraging his brother to finalise his long-anticipated move to Marsh Farm.

Andrew has been accused of “dragging his heels” over relocating to his permanent residence. The ex-Prince is said to have received countless boxes of his possessions in recent weeks, with the transition to Marsh Farm believed to be “imminent”.

He reportedly spent Easter at the Sandringham Estate and was spotted walking his dogs on Saturday. Edward and Sophie joined the rest of the Royal Family for the customary Easter Sunday church service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
