Violent ‘disturbance involving weapons’ in Oldham leaves 3 in hospital and blood on street
Three men aged 19, 23 and 24 were taken to hospital after a violent disturbance on Copster Hill Road in Oldham with police investigating potential weapon use
A road was sealed off by police after three men sustained injuries during a violent altercation believed to have involved weapons. Greater Manchester Police cordoned off a section of Copster Hill Road in Oldham following the incident which broke out just before 3pm on Tuesday (April 7).
Reports emerged of a disturbance involving several people which escalated into violence. Three males, aged 19, 23 and 24, were rushed to hospital from the location. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening. Investigators are examining the possible involvement of weapons during the fracas, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Images from the location revealed police and ambulance crews present on Tuesday afternoon with tape blocking the footpath. Blood was also visible spattered across the pavement.
Anyone with CCTV material is being encouraged to contact Greater Manchester Police. Detective Inspector Kelly Paterson from GMP’s Oldham CID said: “We appreciate the concern an incident of this nature would cause the local community and we’re like to reassure them there is believed to be no wider threat.
“There is a scene in place as our forensic investigators establish the full circumstances of the incident however, we are working at pace to identify those involved.
“Violence has no place on our streets, and our officers will be out in the local area to support communities. If you have any information or footage of the incident, please contact Oldham CID on 0161 856 8906, quoting log 1895 of 07.04.2026.”
The news comes as police launched an investigation after a man was discovered dead – with a woman taken into custody. Officers were called to a property on Gus Risman Street, Salford at approximately 1pm on Good Friday (April 3) following reports that a man’s body had been discovered.
Tragically, the 29-year-old, who has been identified in tributes as Lewis Kent, was declared dead at the scene.
An investigation was initiated by the force and a 30-year-old woman was arrested. She was questioned on suspicion of domestic abuse offences.
The woman has subsequently been released on bail while the investigation proceeds. Police stated “enquiries into the circumstances regarding his death remain ongoing.”
