Autistic lady, seven, discovered lifeless in golf course pond had ‘escaped childminder by way of hole in park fence’, inquest instructed

A seven-year-old girl who drowned on a golf course died after escaping from her childminder through a gap in a fence, an inquest has heard.

Nyla May Bradshaw was found in a pond at Owston Hall golf course, in Doncaster, last month.

The schoolgirl, who was autistic, was found unresponsive and face down in the water before being rushed to hospital, but she was sadly confirmed to have died a short while later.

Nyla’s mother Hayley had left the youngster in the care of a new childminder who was said to be a specialist in caring for SEND children, it was heard.

But just two hours later the mother received a message informing her her daughter had disappeared.

The childminder, who is said to have been warned that Nyla was a flight risk, took her on a trip to a local park where she passed through a hole in some fencing and ended up on the course.

An urgent police search was launched after the alarm was raised and the schoolgirl was later found in the pond.

Paying tribute to her beloved daughter, mother Hayley Beadsley and father Kieran Bradshaw wrote: ‘It breaks my heart to write this, but today we lost our beautiful daughter Nyla May Bradshaw at just seven years old.

‘She was our whole world full of love, laughter, and the brightest smile that could light up any room.

‘She brought so much joy into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her.’

Her father added Nyla was his ‘best friend’ and an ‘amazing daughter’.

He continued: ‘You were so loved Nyla you touched everyone’s heart that ever met you.

‘I’ll never ever go a moment without you in my thoughts.’

Her parents had found a new childminder for the day as their usual one was fully-booked.

A GoFundMe page set up in Nyla’s memory has so far raised more than £20,000.

Senior coroner Nicola Mundy has adjourned the full inquest at Doncaster Coroner’s Court until December 8.
