Scott Mills faces newest blow as he’s faraway from the line-up of main summer season live performance after radio star was sacked by BBC

Scott Mills has been removed from the line-up of a major summer concert – one of his last remaining scheduled appearances – in the latest blow since his sacking from the BBC.

The former Radio 2 Breakfast Show DJ has been dropped from his planned set at Ibiza Symphonica following a historical allegation of serious sexual offences.

Last month, it was announced that Mills, 53, who was sacked by the broadcaster following a probe into his personal conduct, was due to perform a DJ set at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on August 15. 

However, following his shock sacking from the BBC, which came seven years after he was investigated by police over alleged sex offences with a boy aged under 16 with the case later closed, event organisers have made the decision to remove him from the official line-up, and discussions have begun to find a replacement.

They have also hit out at Mills’ management team for their ‘lack of communication’ since his BBC scandal came to light.

Their official statement says: ‘We have carefully considered the serious nature of matters in the public domain concerning Scott Mills and have decided to move forward without Scott as part of our line-up.’

Event organisers exclusively told the Daily Mail: ‘Ibiza Symphonica is a celebration, which directly supports the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, a charity with an important role in supporting farming and rural Yorkshire.

‘We have a duty to respect the event, the venue, the charity, and the other acts and partners involved, all of whom have managed to engage with us openly and professionally throughout. Most importantly, we have to make sure we deliver the best possible experience for our customers.

‘We have tried at length to approach the decision with care, fairness, and sensitivity to everyone concerned.

‘Taking everything into account, including the serious allegations in the public domain, the wider sentiment, the broader context in which other organisations were also having to consider their own positions, and the fact that we received no communication or response from management, to the point that we were left without confidence as to whether the booking was even still proceeding, we reached the stage where leaving matters unresolved was becoming more damaging than addressing them.

‘We have begun discussions around a replacement, and we also already have a further act still to announce as planned. We have some incredible talent involved in the event, including some true national treasures, and we cannot wait to move forward and deliver a fantastic event for Yorkshire on August 15th.’

The event brings together world-class vocalists and a full live orchestra for an evening celebrating the most loved Ibiza anthems of the last three decades. 

Scott was due to perform alongside Heather Small of M People, Rebecca Ferguson MBE, and Alison Limerick.

It will be the first outdoor music concert held at the Great Yorkshire Showground since Sir Elton John played in 2012.

The event has since updated its artwork to reflect the change and has removed all traces of Mills from the website.

The latest blow came just hours after Arsenal removed any mention of Mills from their website after he was due to perform DJ sets at Boyzone concerts at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

They have also hit out at Mills’ management team for their ‘lack of communication’ since his BBC scandal came to light

Boyzone are playing ‘Two For The Road’ shows at the Emirates on June 5 and 6. Mills had been scheduled to play sets at both shows while S Club and B*Witched were also due to support on each night.

On promotional material, Mills was quoted as saying: ‘What a dream to support the lads this summer, it’s going to be 2 nights of big tunes, big sing-alongs and plenty of 90s nostalgia. I hope you’re ready!’

Meanwhile, Channel 4 has scrapped his episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off For Stand Up To Cancer, which was due to air on April 19.

Elsewhere, the BBC removed a plaque dedicated to Mills from the Radio 1 studio in London. He had been honoured with the silver memento on his final day at Radio 1 in 2022, with studio 82A renamed as 82 Mills.

He worked for Radio 1 from 1998 to 2022 before switching to Radio 2 and its flagship Breakfast Show.

Mills, who was paid between £355,000 and £359,999 a year by the BBC, took over the Radio 2 breakfast show from Zoe Ball in 2025.

His permanent replacement to host the show is yet to be announced.
