Beauty brand owner Karishma Vijay, 28, is one of the final five remaining hopefuls for Lord Sugar‘s £250,000 investment.

In a first look at the infamous interview grillings, Karishma is sat down with Claudine for a conversation.

Claudine begins by saying: ‘I want to ask you a bit about yourself really, because you obviously have a huge drive and determination.

‘How does the motivation and the drive come to you?’

Karishma responds: ‘My dad was, at one point, a very financially stable man. Now we have very little to get through each month.

‘It’s why I’m here, because for me, at the core of my business plan is rent is due on the 22nd. Today – my rent is due today.

‘It’s been my thought and it’s sad for me that we’re moving every six months. Money is just such a big issue for us right now.

‘But I want to give him the world. Everything I do, my dad’s at the very core of it. I want to do him very proud in this life.’

Claudine replies: ‘Karishma, I think that your dad and your family would be so proud of you.

‘And I wish you all the best.’

Visibly pleased by the interviewer’s words, Karishma says: ‘Thank you Claudine, you’ve absolutely made my day.

‘Thank you very much, it was an honour to get to meet you today.’

To which Claudine says: ‘Thank you and you, bye.’

After Karishma has left the room, the next shot shows Claudine wiping tears from her eyes.

The 20th series of the reality TV show hit our screens on January 29.

Lord Sugar, 78, Karren Brady, 56, and Tim Campbell, 48, returned to our screens to put the budding entrepreneurs through their paces

There were 20 candidates to make the milestone birthday.

Lord Sugar sent the businessmen and women to Hong Kong, and were tasked with completing the classic scavenger hunt task – which saw them try and find a certain number of items in a certain amount of time around the region of China

Elsewhere in the series, they have been tasked with creating a children’s story and audiobook, create their own TV ad and social media campaign for bottled water, sell flowers and put on corporate days in Egypt.

The most recent task saw them design a pet product and create a social media campaign, before pitching to the UK’s most popular retailers.

Last Thursday saw Kieran McCartney quit the show after back-to-back task failures – storming out of the boardroom before Lord Sugar could fire him.

Kieran lost the latest challenge, to create a pet lifestyle brand and product, as well as his deal with Lord Sugar.

The previous episode saw the estate agent struck a dramatic ‘win or walk’ agreement with the business mogul, 79, after landing on the losing team in a live shopping channel task.

He said: ‘I’ve been project manager twice on the same task, if I stay in this process, I would like to be the project manager on task 10 to prove to you what I can do. If I lose, we shake hands, I walk out.’

Lord Sugar instead fired his rival, Conor Galvin, before granting Kieran his request – with a warning.

‘You wanted to be project manager,  you’ve got it,’ he said. ‘The bad news is, it’s got nothing to do with selling houses.’ Kieran stood firm, replying: ‘If I lose, I’ll walk.

However, the pact spectacularly backfired when Kieran lost Thursday evening’s challenge, as his cat product failed to attract sales.

Alongside Kieran’s departure, his teammate Rothna Akhtar, who confessed to a fear of animals, was also fired from the process.

Reflecting on her exit, she said: ‘It was disappointing in that immediate moment, but it wasn’t a complete shock because I was standing against Dan, who I knew had a really good business.

‘I was in shock because I was so close to the final five and I just felt this wave of disappointment. But slight relief because it’s an intense process. It was gut-wrenching when you’re so close to making final five.’
