YouTuber ‘attacked and has cellphone stolen’ as he makes an attempt Glasgow ‘roughest’ pub assessment
Travel vlogger Danny, from the Honest Places channel, claims he was chased by four men who allegedly stole his phone and glasses after trying to film at Bells Bar in Glasgow
A YouTuber has recounted the horror ordeal of how he was allegedly assaulted and had his mobile phone nicked after attempting to enter a pub in Scotland.
Danny, who operates the Honest Places channel, was conducting a tour of the “roughest” pubs in the northern part of the Glasgow.
The travel vlogger kicks off the video by downing half a bottle of Buckfast before heading to the Garngad Bar in Royston, where he encounters two friendly locals who agree to a game of pool.
Commending the bar as “decent” with top-notch hospitality, he then departs for The Budgie on Blochairn Road and subsequently Springburn’s Morven Bar – noting that the pubs were somewhat rough around the edges.
However, the YouTuber’s trouble came when he made his way to Bells Bar.
As he reached the pub, Danny was met with three locals loitering outside who demanded to know if he’s filming. In the footage, one can be heard stating: “You don’t come in here with cameras.”
Danny alleges that one of the men seized his camera while insisting he switch it off, reports Glasgow Live.
The situation intensifies on-screen when one of the group lifts a chair as though he’s about to hurl it, only to be restrained by one of his mates.
After requesting if he can visit the pub next door, the YouTuber is instructed to leave the area as they continue to shout at him.
The vlogger reappears on screen and alleges that four blokes chased after him and even threw a punch. He says the actions resulted in him chipping his tooth.
Danny said: “Four guys ran after me and stole my phone and glasses. They sucker punched me. I have a chipped tooth now.
“They wanted the camera footage.”
Bells Bar previously grabbed headlines last year following a horrific machete assault that left a 39-year-old man with severe injuries.
Video from the incident revealed a suspect approaching a table before producing a foot-long blade from behind his back. The suspect then attacked a man seated at a table at around 11pm on Friday, September 26.
Blood can be seen splattering across the walls above the table as the victim tries to protect his face from the machete. The victim then leaps up onto a seating area in an attempt to avoid further strikes.
The vicious attack seems to go unnoticed by punters who carry on with John Denver’s 1971 classic Take Me Home, Country Roads being played for karaoke.
Police confirmed today (April 9) that investigations into the assault remain active.
Vlogger Danny claims he returned to the establishment and enquired whether they recognised the men. He says someone managed to contact them, and they handed back the belongings.
Locals who viewed the clip – which has already amassed over 200k views – shared their own thoughts, with some showing little sympathy for Danny’s ordeal.
One commented: “I am 42 and lived in Glasgow my whole life , situational awareness is a Glaswegian’s superpower. You basically just walked directly into trouble, then got upset when it happened.”
Another contributed: “Madness attempting to go in there with a selfie stick camera on in full view.”
A third added: “You should go to the Clansman in Craiglang, who was on Blighty’s hardest boozer. Ask for Boabby the barman.”
A fourth posted: “Guy telling you to go to Bells bar is a video game moment where you have a 50/50 choice on the way to go, you choose one way, and then danger music starts playing.”
A fifth remarked: “Someone walked into Bell’s bar with a machete and hacked a guy to bits just a couple of months ago. My mate was working behind the bar and he quit after that.”
