Liverpool information: Arne Slot sack ‘credit score’ declare as he dangers shedding one other icon in switch

Liverpool are losing two club legends this summer when Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson will depart Anfield but Arne Slot may have more problems on the horizon

There has been considerable transfer turmoil at Liverpool and the summer window hasn’t even begun.

Mohamed Salah will depart at the end of the campaign, as will his long-standing team-mate and fellow club legend Andy Robertson, while there could be further exits. In the meantime, Arne Slot and his squad face a massive fixture when they host Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield in the Champions League on Tuesday, knowing they must overturn a two-goal deficit to preserve their final remaining chance of silverware this campaign.

The Reds manager has found himself under scrutiny less than a year after claiming the Premier League title. But a comfortable 2-0 win over Fulham at home on Saturday has strengthened his side’s chances of finishing in the top five and qualifying for the Champions league next season. Here’s all the latest news from Anfield.

Juve after Alisson

Salah and Robertson might not be the only members of Jurgen Klopp’s 2019/20 championship-winning squad to exit Liverpool this summer.

According to reports in Italy, Juventus are eager to bring goalkeeper Alisson, 33, back to Serie A.

The iconic stopper is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury. Last month Liverpool triggered their option to extend his contract until June 2027.

Luciano Spalletti, the gaffer at Juve, was also at the helm at Roma when Alisson was between the sticks for the Giallorossi in the 2016/17 season.

The 67-year-old took the reins in Turin in October with his side languishing in seventh place but now has the opportunity to guide them back into the Champions League.

Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Perin have been splitting the goalkeeping responsibilities for Spalletti’s squad this term.

A fresh keeper is thought to be high on the manager’s wish list, while Tottenham forward Randal Kolo Muani is another target following a standout loan spell last season.

However, whether Liverpool would be willing to part ways with one of the world’s best keepers remains to be seen.

Slot ally on the defensive

Marino Pusic, who was Arne Slot’s right-hand man at both AZ and Feyenoord, has leapt to the defence of the beleaguered Liverpool boss.

The 54-year-old coach declined the offer to join Slot at Anfield and is currently managing Al-Jazira in the UAE. And he has spoken out in support of his former colleague, who many observers believe could be sacked this summer.

“I think Arne deserves much more credit at Liverpool right now than he is getting,” Pusic told Voetbal International.

“Many people forget how frequently Liverpool has become champion of England in recent decades. Arne did it right away in his first season, but Jürgen Klopp has also only won the Premier League title once.

“Before that, Liverpool last won the league title in 1990. And now it is expected that Arne will win the title twice in a row. Especially because so much money has been spent. That doesn’t always work.”
