Donald Trump slams the UK once more over North Sea oil – ‘It is totally loopy’
Donald Trump said ‘it is absolutely crazy’ that the UK won’t drill for new oil in the North Sea because Europe is ‘desperate for energy’
Donald Trump has slammed the UK once again.
The US president took aim at the UK for refusing to open North Sea oil as “Europe is desperate for energy”.
In a deranged rant on Truth Social, Trump claimed the UK was “refusing” to exploit “one of the greatest fields in the world,” branding the situation “tragic” and insisting Aberdeen “should be booming”.
He went further, bizarrely suggesting Norway is profiting by selling North Sea energy to Britain at inflated prices, before doubling down, urging the UK to “DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!!”.
“Europe is desperate for Energy, and yet the United Kingdom refuses to open North Sea Oil, one of the greatest fields in the World,” he said.
“Tragic!!! Aberdeen should be booming. Norway sells its North Sea Oil to the U.K. at double the price. They are making a fortune. U.K., which is better situated on the North Sea for purposes of energy than Norway, should, DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!!
“It is absolutely crazy that they don’t… AND, NO MORE WINDMILLS! President DJT”.
It comes as Ed Miliband warned that expanding North Sea drilling would do little to bring down bills for UK households.
The Energy Secretary said the ongoing conflict in the Middle East highlighted the importance of “getting off these fossil fuel markets that we don’t control.”
He told the Mirror: “We don’t control the prices of these fossil fuel markets and so wherever the oil and gas comes from, whether it’s from the North Sea, or from elsewhere, we’re affected.
“Half of the recessions that have been caused since the 1970s have been caused by fossil fuel price spikes. That’s our big vulnerability, and so whether it’s GB Energy or the other action we’re taking, all we’ve announced on nuclear power, it’s all about giving us protection. It’s about the long-term climate crisis, the biggest long term threat to security we face.”
