Hilarious second Hungarian politician celebrates Viktor Orban’s defeat… with some wild strikes
This is the moment a Hungarian politician celebrated the historic defeat of Viktor Orban by pulling some wild moves on stage.
On Sunday, Hungary‘s veteran nationalist leader was ousted from office after 16 years in power.
His long reign and tight grip on the European nation was ended by upstart opposition leader Peter Magyar.
Magyar enjoyed a landslide victory, with his centre-Right Tisza party on course for an extraordinary 138 seats, compared to Orban’s Fidesz on 55 and the hard-Right Our Homeland on six.
At the Tisza leader’s victory speech on Sunday night, his prime choice for future health minister, Zsolt Hegedus, let loose following a long campaign.
Hegedus, an orthopaedic surgeon who works in both Hungary and the UK, was seen dancing on stage in a fit of joy.
He hopped along the stage on one foot, miming the strumming of a guitar, before jumping up and down in joy as music blared.
The health specialist then sent his limbs flying in different directions for a few seconds, before signalling to the gathered crowd that he wanted them to dance with him.
Celebrations of Magyar’s victory and Orban’s defeat continued well into the early hours, turning Budapest into a party zone as supporters gathered near the stage and throughout Budapest’s streets.

Crowds of Tisza supporters cheered the historic result that sent shockwaves from Washington to Kyiv and caused local markets to surge.
Many residents were recovering from the wild celebrations that saw the capital’s streets filled with revellers throughout the night.
Orban’s defeat marked a setback for his allies in Russia and US President Donald Trump‘s White House.
Orban was celebrated by conservatives across Europe and the United States as the mastermind of the ‘illiberal’ model of democracy, but lost favour at home with voters who grew weary of economic stagnation, international isolation and oligarchs amassing wealth.
Just a day after winning the election, Magyar urged Britain to rejoin the EU as Keir Starmer talks up his push to unwind Brexit.
He said he ‘hoped’ the UK would come back into the fold, stating at a press conference on Monday: ‘The Brits were also part of the EU; let’s hope that they rejoin.’
Magyar also vowed to change the constitution so that the Trump-supporting Orban can never be prime minister again.
