Truth behind Trump’s widely-mocked declare ‘Jesus’ picture was really a ‘physician
Fury has erupted after Trump shared an AI image portraying him as Jesus, then insisted it showed him as a “doctor”, sparking a viral “doctor vs doctored” mix-up
Outrage continues to grow after Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself as Jesus. Although the US President later claimed he believed it depicted him as a “doctor”, critics accused him of using religious imagery to elevate himself.
The White House’s press secretary Karoline Leavitt tried to distance Trump from accusations of “blasphemy” by saying the post was “a doctored image”. But critics are now suggesting Trump may have misheard the word “doctored” as “doctor”.
On Monday (April 13) Trump told reporters that he did not intend for his Truth Social image to depict him as Jesus, but rather as a doctor or Red Cross worker.
The Orange Manbaby described the AI image as being made by a “very beautiful, talented artist”. and viewed it as himself “playing the doctor” for fun. The image showed Trump wearing a white robe and red sash, with light appearing to emanate from his hands as he touched the forehead of a man lying in a hospital bed.
As a result, the post was widely interpreted as using religious imagery. Asked about the comparison, Trump insisted that was not what he intended and said he had misunderstood what the image depicted.
He told reporters outside the White House: “I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do with the Red Cross as a Red Cross worker there, which we support. Only the fake news could come up with that one [the Jesus comparison].”
Trump added: “It’s supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better.
“I make people a lot better.” He added: “I viewed that as a picture of me being a doctor… you had the Red Cross right there, you had, you know, medical people surrounding me… like the doctor, you know, as a little fun playing the doctor.”
The post was later deleted following the backlash. Leavitt later addressed the row on Tuesday (April 14), during a briefing at the White House, saying: “President Trump’s Truth Social post depicting him as Jesus was a doctored image.”
The remark fuelled a viral “doctor vs doctored” theory, with observers claiming Trump’s later insistence that the image showed him as a “doctor” may have stemmed from confusion over aides describing the picture as “doctored”.
An X user (formerly known as Twitter) shared: “Oh my god. was Trump told to tell the press that the image was ‘doctored’, but misunderstood and told everyone that he was depicted as a ‘doctor’?”
Another person exclaimed: “HE JUST F—— ADMITTED HE POSTED IT!!!!” Meanwhile, an Instagram user observed: “Seems like everyone is missing the observation/point being made lol- Trump was most likely told to say that the image was doctored, and he’s so dense that he thought they told him to say he thought he was a doctor in the image.”
