Inside Gylfi Sigurdsson’s life now from new job to mannequin spouse and staggering internet price

Former Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson was a Premier League regular for much of his career, but is now winding down his playing days in the Icelandic top flight

Gylfi Sigurdsson is seeing out his footballing days back in his native country, earning a fraction of what he used to pocket during his Premier League tenure.

The former Everton midfielder, now 36, made the switch to the Toffees from Swansea City for a club-record fee of £45million in 2017. Sigurdsson was a mainstay in the first team for his initial four years at Goodison Park, only to be omitted from Everton’s final Premier League squad in September 2021.

This marked the beginning of the end for the ex-Tottenham playmaker’s stint on Merseyside as he departed the club the following summer when his contract ran out.

A period of uncertainty ensued before he signed with Danish outfit Lyngby Boldklub in June 2023, after holding discussions with DC United, then under the management of Wayne Rooney.

However, his stay at Lyngby was short-lived, lasting just six months, reports the Mirror.

New job

He returned to his homeland, initially with Valur before moving to another Reykjavik-based team, Vikingur, in February 2025. He featured in the qualifying rounds of the Europa Conference League at the start of this season before being knocked out by Brondby.

The Besta deild karla, Iceland’s top-tier league, has just kicked off, with Sigurdsson netting Vikingur’s goal in their 1-1 stalemate with Breidablik.

Sigurdsson remains a vital figure for his nation, featuring in recent friendlies against Mexico (a 4-0 defeat) and Haiti (a 1-1 stalemate). He had endured three years away from the international scene before earning a recall for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Luxembourg and Liechtenstein.

Net worth

According to Salary Sport, Sigurdsson possesses a net worth approaching £25m, accumulated during his Premier League years. Throughout his stint at Everton, he was reportedly pocketing £120,000 per week, totalling more than £6m annually.

By comparison, he is now thought to be collecting just £2,200 weekly (£114,000 annually) at Vikingur, equivalent to wages in England’s fourth or fifth divisions.

Model wife

Sigurdsson is wed to Alexandra Iversdottir, a model and former Miss Iceland titleholder. Following that achievement, she represented her homeland at Miss World, reaching the top 15.

Much like her spouse, Iversdottir has athletic credentials, claiming Miss World Sports victory in a decathlon competition where Miss World contestants battle each other across various fitness challenges and activities.

The pair have been wed for nearly seven years, exchanging vows beside Lake Como, Italy, in June 2019. Their romance began in 2010, while Sigurdsson was turning out for Reading. The duo celebrated the arrival of their first child, daughter Melros Mia Gylfadottir, in May 2021.
