Priest prays Lord ‘takes Donald Trump’ as congregation bursts into laughter
The unnamed priest let out the ‘greatest Freudian slip’ after becoming fed up with reading about Donald Trump’s ‘absolutely outrageous’ warmongering in the Middle East
A fed-up priest asked the Lord to “take” Donald Trump during a church service. The congregation were heard laughing before the cleric tried to clarify his “Freudian slip”.
A short video from the church, somewhere in Ireland, has gone viral after it was shared on TikTok. It comes as the US President’s almighty row with the Pope continues after he shared an AI-generated image of himself as Jesus.
The “blasphemous” depiction sparked a huge backlash before Trump deleted the social media post. Now, a Catholic priest has backed his boss in the Vatican City, to the amusement of his congregation.
The unnamed cleric is heard saying in the clip: “War is taking place which is absolutely outrageous. There is no need for it.
“We pray for peace in the world. We pray for Donald Trump that the Lord will take him.”
The congregation was heard laughing as the priest realised what he had said. “Sorry about that,” he says before saying: “Take away his pain”.
The comment section was full of sympathisers for the priest’s slip of the tongue. One said: “May your prayers come true”.
Another wrote: “Right the first time”. A third said: “Don’t worry Fr. I know what you meant”.
A fourth commented: “This would make me go to church”. Wile a fifth person wrote: “Greatest Freudian slip of all time”.
Another person said: “He’s saying what everyone is thinking. Bless him”.
Trump recently doubled down on his comments regarding Pope Leo with another overnight post about the head of the Catholic Church. Writing on Truth Social, Trump said: “Will someone please tell Pope Leo that Iran has killed at least 42,000 innocent, completely unarmed, protesters in the last two months, and that for Iran to have a Nuclear Bomb is absolutely unacceptable.
“Thank you for your attention to this matter. AMERICA IS BACK!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Pope Leo has said he will keep speaking out against war after facing scathing criticism from Trump. The US president, in a lengthy social media post, demanded that the head of the Catholic Church “focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician”.
But the Pope has indicated he will continue to “stand up and say there’s a better way” and that he is “not afraid of the Trump administration”, although he also said he did not intend to “get into a debate” with Trump.
Trump has accused the Pope, who leads the world’s estimated 1.4 billion Catholics, of being “Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons” and said he should “stop catering to the Radical Left”.
