Adult star with ‘156 IQ’ and MENSA card handed bar examination to grow to be a lawyer
What… like it’s hard? This adult star wanted to prove herself by taking and passing a difficult law exam, even thought she initially didn’t have any plans to become a lawyer
An adult star has just announced she has passed her exams to become a lawyer. Former adult film star, Asia Carrera, has passed the Texas bar exam, in the US, putting her a step closer to qualifying as a lawyer.
Carrera, whose birth name is Jessica Steinhauser, said on Facebook she cleared the demanding test after sitting it in February. As a result, she is listed under her legal name among those admitted to the State Bar of Texas.
She previously wrote that she took the exam for a second time in Waco, Texas, in a hall with nearly 1,000 candidates. However, after missing out by two points on her first attempt, she added she “didn’t even want to be a lawyer” but simply wanted to prove she could pass.
Carrera has long been described as academically gifted, TMZ reported. She has said she is a member of Mensa with an IQ of 156.
Moreover, she also reportedly holds a master’s degree in education. The retired adult film star announced the news on social media, writing: “I passed the bar exam!!!! Asia Esquire, y’all!!!!!”
Recalling the scale of the sitting, she wrote: “It was an unnerving feeling to look around this massive auditorium of almost 1,000 leagle beagles… and knowing ‘These are the people I’ve got to beat’”.
She has also spoken about how intensively she prepared for her second attempt, saying: “This time I knew my shi* down cold, and I scored higher than 91% of my Barbri Bar Prep peers on the final exam”.
Carrera has frequently highlighted her academic achievements and high-IQ credentials as part of a long-running drive for intellectual recognition beyond her entertainment career.
She has said she is a Mensa member with a reported IQ of 156, and has previously spoken about feeling hurt after an alleged dispute over the group linking to her website because of her adult content.
Nonetheless, she later suggested the situation had improved when she was featured in a 2004 issue of the Mensa Bulletin under “Famous Mensans”, which she described as a significant moment of acceptance. A
way from Mensa, Carrera has steadily built up formal qualifications, including a B.S. in Psychology from Utah Tech University, a Master of Education from Texas A&M University, and a Juris Doctor from St Mary’s University School of Law in 2024.
She has also been noted for technical interests, including early self-taught web design, and has written for niche outlets, although there is no indication she has produced peer-reviewed academic research.
