Ex-White House Official Points To 1 Trump Post That Shows Pete Hegseth’s A Goner

On Thursday the Bulwark’s editor-at-large wrote that a Truth Social post by President Donald Trump signaled that the Cabinet member’s “days are numbered.”
Kristol, who served in the administrations of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, forwarded Trump’s announcement of a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel amid the ongoing Iran war. The president gave shoutouts to Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair “Dean Razin’ Caine” but did not mention Hegseth.
“The omission of Hegseth from the list of those Trump directs to work on the ceasefire (and his replacement, as it were, by Caine), along with Driscoll’s embrace of Gen. George earlier today, makes me think Hegseth’s days are numbered,” Kristol wrote on X.
Kristol was also referring to Army Secretary Dan Driscoll publicly voicing support for the leadership of Gen. Randy George, the Army chief of staff whom Hegseth fired, at a House hearing on Thursday.
“He was an amazing leader,” Driscoll noted in response to praise from a member of Congress. Driscoll and Hegseth have repeatedly clashed behind the scenes, The Washington Post previously reported.
