Boozy bride carried out of personal wedding ceremony by paramedics after downing too many pictures

Bemused wedding guests snapped a bride unconscious in the back of an ambulance in her dress – after she downed too many shots on an ’empty stomach’.

Danielle Crowther tied the knot with husband Lewis on April 3 after two years of being together – but the night did not quite go as well as it should have.

The 31-year-old said the day started smoothly at Canterbury register office in Kent and the couple continued the celebrations with their 40 guests at the reception.

The mum-of-one said she had not managed to eat while getting ready due to anxiety and kept being handed drinks throughout the night.

Danielle mixed different drinks and cannot remember how much she downed, claiming to be the ‘drunkest’ she had ever been, before falling unconscious.

Lewis called an ambulance after guests realised the bride was not responsive and paramedics rushed to the reception. Thankfully medics found she was simply intoxicated and did not transfer her to hospital.

While Danielle admits she was mortified when she woke up, she now finds the incident funny.

One of the guests posted footage of the night online, gathering more than 41,000 views, with Danielle commenting: “Oh my God how bloody embarrassing.”

It showed people downing shots before the bride could be seen being lifted off a chair by guests and then unconscious in the back of an ambulance – still in her wedding dress.

Danielle, from Whitstable, Kent, said: “Everything was absolutely fine, it went really smoothly.

“At the reception I kept having drinks handed to me and I went to sit down next to my little one and just went.

“I must have fallen asleep but I was unresponsive. I had a lot of drinks, shots, all different stuff.

“I was mixing different stuff, I really should have stuck to one drink. It was a bit of everything. It was in the last half an hour of it [the reception].

“My husband called the ambulance. I don’t remember it at all.

“They didn’t take me to hospital because they said I was intoxicated. I felt awful, my head was spinning.”

Danielle was taken home and was told what had happened by family the next morning when she woke up.

The stay-at-home mum said she did not intend to drink that much but put it down to being stressed on her big day.

Looking back, Danielle said the incident made the wedding better as she can laugh about it now.

The newlywed is urging future brides to not drink on an empty stomach.

Danielle said: “Everyone laughed. The next morning my sister and my family told me what happened and I thought, ‘Oh my God.’

“I was dancing and I went over to sit next to my little boy. I sat on the chair and just went. It’s the drunkest I’ve been in my life. I was taken home.

“I said I’m not going to drink that much. It was 100% wedding stress, I suffer from anxiety anyway.

“My husband did find it funny but he had quite a bit to drink as well. Looking back, it made it better, it’s funny. It didn’t ruin the wedding.

“I would tell brides to eat while they’re getting ready and not drink on an empty stomach. I couldn’t eat anything because of the stress.

“I was planning the wedding for about six months. We were together a couple of months before he proposed. We’d known each other for years.”
